IRMÃOS HARVEY NA WATERTECH E O TESTEMUNHO DE UM CAMPEÃO OLÍMPICO



São as novidades mais recentes da Watertech. Já há uma semana aqui tínhamos anunciado que Chris Harvey iria remar um ONA. Agora, a confirmação de que também o seu irmão - actual campeão do Mundo Júnior HP - irá juntar-se à W Team. Ronald Rauhe, o atleta Alemão campeão Olímpico e do Mundo de K1, também experimentou o ONA... mas vamos às NEWS enviadas por Rui Calado!

Chris Harvey é um dos melhores kayaksurfistas do Mundo. Conhecido pelas suas manobras aéreas espectaculares, faz agora parte da nossa W-team aos comandos do novíssimo ONA.

Adam Harvey é o campeão do mundo de kayaksurf na classe juniores HP...
É ainda muito novo e já uma grande esperança neste desporto. O seu estilo e técnicas são já inconfundíveis, o que o levou a ser o campeão do mundo de Juniores em título. Rema num ONA tal como o seu irmão mais velho :)

Ronald RAUHE, O Atleta Alemão campeão Olimpico e do Mundo de K1, saltou para um ONA e esteve a surfar umas ondas pela primeira vez na vida.
Claro que o ONA não é tão rápido como o seu K1 mas mesmo assim curtiu bastante a experiência... este kayak foi mesmo feito para campeões ;)

Adam Harvey is the Junior HP Surfkayak World Champion...
He is very young but a real promisse and the future of this sport. He paddles great, and that took him to the first place on the podium this last worlds on the Junior category. He paddles a Watertech ONA now, just like his older brother :)



Ronald RAUHE, German Olympic and World K1 Champion, jumped into a ONA and paddled on a surfkayak for the first time. Of course that the ONA is not as fast as the K1 he normally rides...
But still had lot's of fun with it... this boat is definitely a winner ;)

Decorreu este sábado o primeiro dia de competição no Mundial de Waveski que decorre na Austrália de 5 a 12 de Setembro. O evento conta com 106 inscritos divididos por 9 países e 9 categorias. Penny Bedford e Steve Farthing deram-nos todos os créditos para a publicação dos seus reports e então aqui vão as últimas!

Da nossa parte, Francisco Saraiva - único portuga no evento - ficou em terceiro no seu heat. Podem ver mais em baixo as classificações e, entretanto, vamos esperar pela respescagens. Boa sorte Francisco!

WORLDS Day 1 - Saturday 5th September 2009

Wouldn't you know it, first day of competition and the SE winds pick up, making the waves a choppy and unpredictable although still around the 3 foot mark. Round 1 of the open qualifiers and Masters was run, no major upsets and no eliminations as repercharges will be run tomorrow. Justine Guillaume from Guadeloupe was a standout with one of the highest heat scores but again the conditions were challenging.

Looking forward to better conditions tomorrow keep checking the results and photos. Until tomorrow you know the saying "Let go Bananas"

WORLD WAVESKI TITLES / Pre-Worlds report by Steve Farting + Penny Bedford Photos
Tuesday 1st September 2009

Bit of a waveski crowd in the surf this morning. Blair Moore, Ben John, Damien Vickery, Tyler Laustern, Lisa Ryan, myself and the guys from Guadaloupe. Everyone was pulling big moves but I thought the standout was Virgil Humbert, with his repetoir of radical twisting aerials. Conditions improved on yesterday with 3 to 4 foot peaks coming through. Fletcher Burton had the water camera out and I think he captured a few special shot that we will try and get a few up on the site.

Mathieu Babarit , Caroline Angibaud, The Cambells and Andre Burger have arrived. Andre paddled out for a later session, the water is still a bit chilly and he's out there in his boardies.

Am going out for a high tide session at 4, until tomorrow.

VENUE FOR 2011 WORLD SURF KAYAK CHAMPIONSHIPS - USA EAST COAST

MUNDIAL DE KAYAKSURF 2011 NA COSTA ESTE DOS EUA

Foi anunciado há momentos o local do próximo Mundial de Kayaksurf. Em cima da mesa, estavam as candidaturas da Austrália e dos EUA, Costa Este. Pois bem, a Associação Mundial de Kayaksurf (WSKA), deciciu-se pela proposta norte-americana. Parabéns ao próximo país anfitrião! Em baixo, o texto oficial da WSKA.

After the announcement that there were two proposals for the next Worlds - Australia and USA East - the WSKA chose the north america - East Coast. Congratulations to Joey, Spence, Anthony, Russ, Tom, Lindsay and all the ESKA Team! We'll see in 2011!

I can announce today that the venue for the 2011 World Surf Kayak Championships will be Outer Banks at North Carolina, on the East coast USA.

Decorreu no passado fim de semana de 22 e 23 de Agosto na praia de Woolacombe, Norte Devon no SW da Inglaterra. A MEGA lançou a ideia e o evento já vai na sua quarta edição. Este ano teve a particularidade de contar com uma competição por pares. O kayaksurf.net foi Media Partner da prova e John Watson enviou-nos o surf report com fotos de Caroline Janganant.

It's the 4th edition of this event. It was on the weekend of 22 and 23th of August, Woolacombe Beach. Mega Kayaks was the major support of the event. Check out John Watson report with photos of Caroline Janganant. Enjoy it!

Plastic Surf Kayak Champs at Woolacombe beach, North Devon

40 people took part in the Plastic Surf Kayak Champs at Woolacombe beach, North Devon last weekend. With free boats available to use, the event attracted many kayakers to their first surf competition - and they had the chance to surf against each other and England Team paddlers.

After 2 rounds for everyone, then a knockout from quarter-finals onwards, Rich Sims finished with a well-deserved win and a prize of a stay for two in The Thatch Restaurant and Pub, Croyde Bay.

Philip and Sam lead the English ranking lists so far this season, with two events still to go.

Most successful newcomer to competition had a surprise too - Sam Jones won a plastic Neutron for two 1st places in the heats and reaching the quarter-finals. At the evening party, everyone went away with something, thanks to the generous sponsorship from Ainsworth, Mega, Nookie and Buff. First prize in the raffle was a composite Neutron RV won by another newcomer, Andy Ryder.

Sunday saw the first Tag-Team Pairs Contest, with 11 pairs entered. Each heat combined 3 pairs, and started with a "Le Mans" style racing start from the beach. One partner surfed whilst the other waited out back. After scoring a wave, the surfer sprints out back to tag his partner, who paddle-twirls above his head to show the judges he's "on". Every surfer is scored separately, and finishes with 1 point for 1st, 2 for 2nd etc, to 6 points for 6th place. The Tag-Team's total score is their points combined. Round Two saw heats with the leading teams drawn against each other, to make the closest competition. Combined points after Round Two gave a clear win for Dylan Petherick and Steve Bowens - good surfing and some devious tactics had won the day!

It made a great fun Sunday morning. Try this format at home and we'll soon have a World Tag-Team Challenge set up!

Late News - Jury's report:

After photographic evidence has been studied from the Tag-Team Pairs at Woolacombe, 23 August 2009, some well-known surf kayakers have been found guilty of ungentlemanly conduct, and banned from Tag-Teams until the next contest!

É com muito gosto que vemos o nosso amigo e colaborador Bruno Guazelli de novo envolvido na organização de mais uma prova de canoagem em onda. Depois do sucesso do ano anterior, Bertioga vai receber a segunda etapa do evento. Em baixo podem ler todo o programa e, lá mais próximo da data da prova, voltaremos de novo com mais informações. A Praia da Enseada em Bertioga sediará, nos dias 17 e 18 de outubro próximo, a Segunda Etapa do Campeonato Brasileiro de Canoagem Onda/2009, com expectativa de efetiva participação dos atletas de todo o País. Uma grande infraestrutura está sendo preparada para o evento, que fará parte do calendário esportivo da cidade.

Realizada pela Confederação Brasileira de Canoagem Onda – CBCa, Hidro 2, BGF Produções e Prefeitura Municipal de Bertioga a competição será válida para a composição do Ranking Brasileiro de Waveski e Kayaksurf, que já conta com os resultados obtidos na Primeira Etata, realizada em fevereiro no município de Barra Velha, litoral de Santa Catarina. Segundo Bruno Guazzelli Filho, kayaksurfer e principal organizador do evento, aguarda-se a presença de um ótimo número de participantes. "Nós estamos trabalhando muito e tivemos que superar dificuldades de todo o tipo, mas temos certeza que esta Etapa do Brasileiro será marcada pela organização e satisfação dos participantes e público em geral. É com muito prazer que organizo um campeonato pela segunda vez", informa.

As inscrições já estão abertas e podem ser realizadas pelo e-mail bgfilho27@hotmail.com até o dia 10 de outubro próximo, impreterivelmente. O valor será de R$50,00 por atleta, independentemente de quantas categorias e/ou modalidade for participar, com direito a uma camiseta estampada frente/costas, dois açaís com frutas e água à vontade. Sem contar o sorteio de diversos brindes: três remos (Hidro 2, New Impact e Remadas.com). Premiações diversas entre bermudas e camisetas da Bicho Doido Surf a equipamentos diversos da Hidro 2, medalhas e troféus.

Um roteiro completo com as opções de estadia e alimentação está em anexo visando propiciar maior conforto e comodidade aos participantes. Os juízes que trabalharão no evento são todos filiados à Federação Paulista de Surf em parceria com a ASSUB (Associação de Surf e Poliesportiva de Bertioga) e todos com vasta experiência no que fazem.
