Já publicámos há uns dias - com grande sucesso nas visitas e no Facebook - a recente criação de Alexandre Mattei, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net. Nas palavras do próprio - "Esporte criado por Alexandre Pierre Mattei, sendo que a primeira prancha de Shark Paddle ficou pronta em 27/02/2011. Conciliou o Surf à Canoagem Onda, pois juntou Stand Up Paddle Surf (SUP), Kayaksurf e Waveski". Já vimos Bruno Guazzelli Filho a surfar e agora, o mais recente vídeo com Bava e o próprio Alexandre a testar a testarem a nova máquina. Obrigado Alexandre!

We already have published a few days ago the video where we saw Bruno Guazzelli Filho testing this brazilien invention - Shark Paddle Surf. The mentor was another NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net element: Alexandre Pierre Mattei. This is the latest video of this new way of surf that combines kayaksurf, waveski and SUP. The surfer is Bava. Kayaksurf in Universidade Lusófona, Portugal, with RPF Kayaks

Nuno Benedito já colabora com o kayaksurf.net há vários anos e continua igualmente com a sua actividade lectiva na Universidade Lusófona. Na semana passada, andou com alguns alunos pela baía de Cascais a experimentar um Shark da RPF numa formação subordinada ao kayaksurf. Fica o relato e mais uma boa notícia, pois é sempre salutar vermos o interesse académico a despertar para a nossa modalidade ;)

Nuno Benedito collaborates with kayaksurf.net a long time ago. He also teaches in Univertity Lusófona (Lisbon) in sports courses and, last week, he tried a RPF Shark near by Cascais with his students. Below is the report (highly positiv) about this portuguese surfkayak. It's always good news to see that the academic institutions awake to our sport ;)

Kayaksurf com um Shark (RPF)

Este fim de semana tivemos a oportunidade de experimentar um novo tipo de kayak Sit-On-Top (SOT), designado por Shark da RPF (http://www.rpfkayaks.com/ ).

Este Kayak contém as seguintes características:

•Largura – 63,5cm
•Comprimento – 239cm
•Peso – +/- 11kg
•Tipo – Sit-on-top
•Peso Kayaksurfer – Até 95kg

Este tipo de kayak provoca um pouco mais instabilidade lateral do que um kayak pólo (que estamos habituados a usar), uma vez que a sua largura é maior. Mas graças ao seu design é mais fácil esquimotar1, do que qualquer outro SOT. Podemos ainda dizer que este kayak é bastante manobrável e rápido.

A prática de kayaksurf é algo altamente enriquecedor no contexto de toda a experiência de kayak de mar. Evolui-se tecnicamente de uma forma exponencial. A necessidade do uso de apoios, é um exemplo prático daquilo que é tão necessário e que muitas vezes nos passa ao lado. Neste fim-de-semana, apenas demos ênfase ao apanhar a onda e tentar por ela “navegar”.

Foi no passado dia 27 que o Club Kayaksurf Galicia levou a cabo mais uma sessão de treino. Os atletas, devido às condições do mar, tiveram que separar-se por várias praias. Ficam as fotos que nos chegaram da praia de Fragata com Javi Diaz, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, a surfar umas ondas à maneira e sacar um aéreo... ou como ele nos isse "Quase!!" - porque Javi ainda quer subir um pouco mais ;)

E como o mundo é pequeno... até já conhecemos pessoalmente o Yassen no ano passado em Peniche ;) Este simpático búlgaro faz parte da nossa NEWS TEAM e habitualmente surfa no Mar Negro. It was one of the most unexpected interviews we published last year - Kayaksurf in Black Sea. Yassen Zhelyazkhov, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, sent us the video that shows the waves that usually appears in the eastern side of Bulgaria. We met Yassen last year in Portugal and he simply loved Peniche. Below, the link for his interview. The title of the vid means like "have a pleasant day" - that what said the Gypsies children :)

Alexandre Pierre Mattei, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, ainda há poucas semanas andou nas NEWS com um vídeo fantástico onde "misturava" kayaksurf e SUP. Agora, surpreende-nos com uma nova modalidade. De acordo com as palavras de Alexandre, "SHARK PADDLE SURF é mistura de SUP, Kayaksurf e Waveski (com uma pitada de Capoeira…)". Fica o vídeo que contou com a colaboração de outro amigo bem conhecido da nossa NEWS TEAM - Bruno Guazzelli Filho. Apreciem!!

Alexandre Pierre Mattei, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, was in the NEWS a few weeks ago when he made SUP with his surfkayak. Now, Alexandre shows us what he says that is "a new wave sport" - Shark Paddle Surf. Something that mixes Stand Up Paddle, Kayaksurf and Waveski. Geoff Jennings está a reunir as tropas para definir a equipa que irá representar os EUA-Costa Oeste, no Mundial de Kayaksurf a realizar em Outer Banks (Costa Este). Fica o apelo enviado e a certeza de que não será muito difícil de encontrar bons atletas pela Califórnia ;)

Geoff Jennings is looking for surfkayakers who are interested in being part of the West Coast Team. The idea is having a great team to compete in Outer Banks next 28th October till October 10th. Sure it won't be a problem to find great surfkayakers in California ;)

US West Surf Kayak Association / Worlds 2011

Greetings!

It's that time. The 2011 World Surf Kayaking Championships will be held this fall at the Outer Banks in North Carolina, from September 28th-October 10th. For more contest info, click here The US West Coast Team has traditionally been a strong competitor at the world championships, and we're looking for folks who are interested in being on the team for this year.

The team is traditionally selected using both competition results from the past 2 years, and, if needed, a team trials contest. As the organization tasked with selecting the team, we're looking for responses from anyone interested in competing this year.

If you are interested in competing as a member of the US West Team in 2011, email geoff@kayaking.com. You must:

Be willing and able to travel to North Carolina for the time of the contest.

Be an experienced surf kayak competition paddler.
Want to win.
Be willing to commit to the train, and train for the event.
We are looking for Men, Masters, Women and Juniors.
Responding by no means guarantees a spot. We'll be using selection criteria to choose team slots. Not responding guarantees you WON'T be offered a spot.

Respond by March 10th.
