As estrelas estão lá todas! Campeões do mundo e nova geração na meca do waveski europeu (e talvez mundial). Fred Jonneaux, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, envia-nos o convite para O evento europeu do waveski. Imaginem estar em Sables d'Olonne e assistir a heats com Caroline Angibaud, Renan LeLoutre, Pablo Arrouays, Virgile Humbert, Mathieu Jonneaux, Mathieu Babarit e muitos, muitos mais? Um luxo. As every year, our France National Waveski Championship takes place at the end of october. This 2011 edition takes place in Sables d’Olonne, which is a special place for waveski, as it’s the only place in France (and probably in the world… !) that has a school with waveski section that prepares young riders to waveski high level and teaches them at school at the same time, as in any school. Great champions as Caroline Angibaud, Paul Jouet, Coralie Jousset, Renan Leloutre,… studied in this school. Now, Fred Jonneaux, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, invites us for one more edition of the TOP event in Sables d'Olonnes. Below more infos. Let's wait for the reports and good luck for all! FRANCE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Sables d’Olonne – Oct 29th to Nov 1st

Those special students are coached by Gérard Lucas, who was National Waveski Team Coach for several years. Gérard is also the Contest Director for these 2011 Waveski France National Championships.

Of course it’s our main event in France, and each year more than 80 riders meet there to compete : as you could see in Santa Cruz, the powerful surf of our young riders will be present, and you can be sure they all are going to struggle to make a big show on the waves… ! Just try to imagine Pablo Arrouays and Virgile Humbert fighting for the national title… do you think Mathieu Babarit and Caroline Angibaud (who both couldn’t run the world titles) will let them do the job ?... Renan Leloutre, Maël Divialle, Mathieu Jonneaux, Maxime Gaborit, Nathan Le Bars…. And many other great surfers will be there, and you can be sure they all want to climb on podiums !...

Figueira Kayak Clube / Great Results in Kayaksurf & Waveski

Figueira Kayak Clube / Dois anos a consolidar o desporto

Miguel Carvalho em Kayaksurf HP, Bruno Melo em Waveski e Hugo Paz nos Sit-on-top, arrecadaram a vitória em três das categorias em competição no Circuito Nacional de Kayaksurf e Waveski 2011 (CNKW). Todos são atletas federados pelo Figueira Kayak Clube (FKC). Com uma luta muito disputada em todas as etapas, foi precisamente aqui na Figueira da Foz, na última provado CNKW, que ficaram definidos os vencedores. Em kayaksurf IC, a vitória coube a Henrique Frazão, outro atleta federado mas, desta vez, pelo Clube Náutico da Foz do Arelho. Mais em baixo, o press-release do FKC. Parabéns!!

Figueira Kayak (FKC) is a canoe paddling club with only two years and already has some of the best athletes in it. FKC organizes activities and events with kayaksurf, waveski, sea kayaking and also workshops about some skills (like rolling). This year, three of the portuguese kayaksurf & waveski winners were their athletes. Congratulations for them and keep on the good work!

Atletas do Figueira Kayak Clube brilham no panorama nacional e mundial do kayaksurf e waveski

Ainda neste mesmo ano, outro dos atletas do clube figueirense, alcançou no Mundial de Waveski Ocean Spirit Festival 2011, um brilhante terceiro lugar (Miguel Carvalho), impondo-se entre os favoritos franceses e sul-africanos.

O Figueira Kayak Clube, com apenas dois anos de existência,vê assim reconhecido o investimento que tem feito desde a sua fundação. Formações em esquimotagem, passeios em kayaks de mar, manobras de iniciação à modalidade,colaboração na organização da Kayaksurf Session, promoção da inscrição de atletas na Federação Portuguesa de Canoagem e, por fim, a organização da III Etapa do Circuito Nacional nestes dois últimos anos. Numa caminhada sólida e ponderada, o FKC tem lutado pela representatividade da Figueira da Foz no panorama nacional e internacional do kayaksurf e waveski. Os seus atletas já participaram em provas internacionais como o Open de Kayaksurf de Mundaka, Campeonato Mundial de Waveski e o Open de Kayaksurf e Waveski da Galiza tendo o FKC, inclusivamente, uma parceria de colaboração com o clube espanhol “Club Kayaksurf Galiza”.

Para 2012, estão agendadas várias iniciativas e, entretanto,aguarda-se a divulgação do calendário oficial da Federação Portuguesa de Canoagem. O FKC irá apresentar, como habitualmente, a proposta de organização de uma das provas do circuito nacional, no entanto, tudo irá depender dos apoios institucionais para o evento. Ainda este ano, irá realizar um jantar convívio onde serão distribuídas “menções honrosas” aos atletas que mais se destacaram em 2011.

Consciente de que há muito mais a fazer, o FKC procura agora um espaço físico onde possa sediar as suas e promover as suas actividades. De acordo com Hugo Nascimento, elemento da direcção do FKC, - “O nosso objectivo é o de reforçar cada vez mais a presença no panorama nacional da canoagem e apostar nos jovens e na formação. Temos atletas inscritos de várias partes do país que, não só reconhecem o nosso trabalho, como também dignificam a nossa cidade. Penso aliás, que e Figueira da Foz já merecia um clube assim”.

New video from Tyler Lausten! The waveski surfer already won two times the north american waveski championships and this year, was second. Nevertheless, he saw Fletcher Burton, his good friend - and member of TL Waveski Team - winning the competition of this year. Congratulations to both and enjoy his new movie!

Já é habitual de há uns anos para cá que Leif venha a Portugal surfar com alguns conterrâneos seus. De facto, com este sol em Outubro, qualquer sueco fica perdido pelo nosso país. Nas duas passadas semanas, a Capital da Onda, foi igualmente visitada por kayaksurfistas oriundos da Dinamarca e Bulgária. Tivemos oportunidade de partilhar ondas nos habituais spots de Peniche e, com este tempinho, até parecia Agosto! Fica o report que Leif, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, nos envia agora directo da Suécia. Great days of sun, surf and paddles in the water ;) That was like that in the past two weeks in Peniche, Portugal. Surfkayakers from Sweden, Denmark and Bulgary came till Portugal to surf in our "Wave Capital". Now, Leif Davidsson, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, sent us the report from those days. Peniche surf kayak course with Aterra and Watertech

Home again after a week in Peniche, this was our fourth surf kayak course down here. And the participants learn how to surf in perfect conditions on waves from one to two meters. Our course is a five day course, often Monday-Friday. May 2012 we come back to Peniche and hope to see you there in a surf kayak course or if you are there surfing I hope to meet you in the waves.

2 years ago i had a vision to make a clip and get it on "Fuel" Channel which is a action sports channel on Foxsports. Its something that has never been done in my sport of waveski and something a lot of people said couldn't be done. It was a year ago now that my great mate Mark "Stapo" Stapelfeldt and myself made the plans to make it happen. After a few months of planning we started production in May and it was an incredible journey where i went to many remote, beautiful spots and met many great people. I have been very fortunate to have many friends and professionals help out with the project that i am very thankful of. A Special thanks also needs to be made to the legendary surf film producer Tim Bonython which was a huge honour to have help.

He had a massive involvement with this clip and i cant thank Tim and Stapo enough for there efforts they spent with me and the project. I am very proud of the end result and its very much the vision i had for this clip when it was planted in my head some years ago. I have found realising and living my dreams is very satisfying and cant recommend enough that everyone should live and breath their passions whatever that is and follow their dreams. Thanks for watching and pass onto anyone that may want to sponsor

Mathieu Jonneaux, WatertechTeam, já é bem conhecido por estas bandas. É um dos nomes fortes da nova geração francesa de waveski. Para além da sua classe nas ondas, Matt é também o homem forte da Mamgoz Productions que nos tem trazido alguns dos melhores vídeos de waveski produzidos nos últimos tempos. Mais uma! É a potência mundial do waveski a organizar e promover eventos que apostam, essencialmente, na iniciação dos atletas mais jovens. Fred Jonneaux, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, enviou-nos o convite. Este evento vai contemplar, pela primeira vez em França, a união entre kayaksurf e waveski. Onde é que nós já vimos isto? A confirmação chega-nos da nação por excelência do waveski. Muito bom. Tal como Fred escreve mais em baixo... - "sharing our common passion : paddling and surfing waves ! "

One more! It's the usual french activitie regarding the waveski scene. Fred Jonneaux, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, sent us the invitiation for next October 23rd. Let's go! This event will also have for the very firts time in France, the participation of some surfkayakers ;) That's great News! Like in Portugal, Ireland, Brazil, USA, Galiza, Italy and now... also in France. Like Fred writes below - "sharing our common passion : paddling and surfing waves ! ". Let's wait for the report!!

Brittany Regional Waveski AND Surfkayak Competition on October 23rd

Since a few years, in Brittany, we manage to run a regional waveski circuit, that has 3 or 4 legs, and a regional championship. This is the way we found to interest young and beginners in waveski to come to competitions that are not too far away from the place they live, and it’s also the way to make a regional ranking. Then, riders who get good ranking are supposed to come to the waveski national circuit. We generally have between 20 and 35 entries on each regional leg.

To encourage new riders and also ladies to come to the activity, we give free entries to ladies, and also to people who are not yet ranked in waveski. Some of them don’t have any board, so we also lend them free of charge the boards that our Departemental Kayak Comitee lends us for waveski development, which is really a very good help. By this way, last year we got a few new riders coming to the activity. After a few competitions on the regional circuit, some of them buy a second hand board and then keep on surfing.

Competition organizations are very light : everyone has to give a hand on the organization : riders who compete also come to judgement (new ones are teached about it) each club comes with some material (beach flags, judgement files, beach marshall boards,…) and this is really good for the spirit we like to feel on the competitions : hard battle on waves, and friendship on the beach !

And also, for the first time in France, a few surfkayakers will join us on the competition. This is a real good new, because it makes a bigger event, and it’s a very good way to meet new people sharing our common passion : paddling and surfing waves ! Of course we said they are welcome ! Some of our young riders will have the opportunity to try a surfkayak, some of surfkayakers will have their first rides on a waveski, this is a good experience for everyone.

Other European countries, as Portugal, Spain, Ireland,… do so, so we can enjoy that France, which has very few surfkayakers, go on the same way, it can be a real promotion for both activities.

So we just pray for good conditions for October 23rd at Baie des Trépassés (Plouhinec Club organization), the most western spot of France.

This regional meeting is the last one before our National Waveski Championship which takes place in Sables d’Olonne (in the middle of french atlantic coast) from October 29th to November 1st. So Oct 23rd will probably be a « training competition » before the main national event… this means big level for sure !

Vencedores do Circuito Nacional de Kayaksurf & Waveski 2011

O Circuito Nacional de Kayaksurf & Waveski (CNKW) teve em 2011 três provas e foi, sem sombra de dúvidas, o melhor circuito alguma vez organizado desde que o kayaksurf iniciou esta aventura no nosso país. Tendo o kayaksurf como modalidade âncora, associámos depois o waveski e, este ano, a classe sit-on-top. Em suma, três modalidades do surf com pagaia que contam, agora, com o reconhecimento institucional da Federação Portuguesa de Canoagem (FPC). (continua mais em baixo)

Congratulations for the portuguese kayaksurf & waveski circuit of 2011! Three excellent contests made this year's circuit that had the major support of our Canoe Federation. This circuit has four classes: kayaksurf HP, IC, SOT and also waveski. This year, these were the winners. Soon, the release of 2012 calendar.

Este salto de qualidade em 2011, só foi possível graças ao apoio da FPC e ao empenho por parte das entidades que organizaram as três provas, a saber: Escola Superior de Desporto de Rio Maior, Associação Santa Cruz Ocean Spirit e Figueira Kayak Clube. Aos três… sinceros PARABÉNS.

Por outro lado, um forte agradecimento a todos os atletas que ajudam ao crescimento da modalidade e que participaram em todas as provas. Como exemplo, os quatro vencedores do circuito nacional 2011 estão oficialmente FEDERADOS. É mais uma confirmação de que, à semelhança de outras modalidades, também o kayaksurf e o waveski caminham para institucionalização do nosso desporto. Só assim poderemos ambicionar metas mais exigentes e obter o natural reconhecimento desportivo.

O protocolo com a Federação Portuguesa de Surf (FPS) só veio confirmar o profissionalismo e experiência que esta parceria adicionou ao CNKW. Graças ao Festival Santa Cruz Ocean Spirit, as equipas da FPS – direcção técnica e juízes –, para além do CNKW, já estiveram envolvidas na organização da Taça do Mundo de Kayaksurf 2008, Mundial de Kayaksurf 2009, Open Internacional de Kayaksurf e Waveski 2010 e Mundial de Waveski 2011. O reconhecimento internacional desta estratégia, chegou uma vez mais este ano aquando do convite de Paulo Schmidt (Chefe de Juízes da FPS) para integrar a organização do Mundial de Kayaksurf que decorreu nos EUA.

Da parte do kayaksurf.net, são aqui endereçados os parabéns a todos os organizadores, patrocinadores, atletas, apoiantes e entusiastas do surf com pagaia. Aos vencedores deste ano, acrescentamos uma natural saudação para os clubes a que pertencem. Os vencedores são:

CONFIRMADO! A Associação Mundial de Kayaksurf escolhe a Austrália para 2013

Depois de Portugal e EUA, a Associação Mundial de Kayaksurf opta pela proposta Australiana para a organização do Mundial de Kayaksurf 2013. Decorrerá na famosa Sunshine Coast Queensland. Boas ondas!

According the The WSKA committee, the next worlds will be in Australia in 2013. The beautiful Sunshine Coast Queensland will host the event. Let's wait for 2013 and we hope to have such an incredible event such was these Worlds in USA ;) We wish all the luck for the organization and let's wait for great swell's! Barra Velha (Santa Catarina) encerra o Circuito de Canoagem Onda Brasil

O Estado de Santa Catarina vai receber de 25 a 27 de Novembro a final do circuito de canoagem onda brasileiro. Para além dos atletas do Brasil, são igualmente esperados participantes oriundos da Argentina, Chile, Uruguai, Peru e Inglaterra. O kayaksurf.net apoia uma vez mais o evento ;) Em baixo o press-relase da CBCA.

Santa Catarina state will receive the final contest of the brazilian kayaksurf & waveski circuit. The event will run from 25 till 27 of October. kayaksurf.net proudly supports once more this contest. Let's wait for the report ;)

Barra Velha (SC) fechará o ano para a Canoagem Onda

Em novembro acontece na cidade o Campeonato Sul-americano de Canoagem Onda 2011

Teremos, mais uma vez, Barra Velha como protagonista de um grande evento da Canoagem Onda. Nos dias 25, 26 e 27 de novembro acontece no litoral catarinense o Campeonato Sul-americano de Canoagem Onda 2011. A perspectiva é da presença de atletas do Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguai, Peru e da Inglaterra neste grande evento que fecha o ano para a modalidade.

Maiores detalhes sobre premiação, hospedagem, local da competição e demais informações serão divulgadas em breve no site da Confederação Brasileira de Canoagem (www.cbca.org.br), inclusive as inscrições. A novidade é que será apresentado para a Canoagem Onda um novo esporte: o Shark Paddle Surf, esporte protagonizado pelo atleta Alexandre Matteí, onde teremos baterias desta nova modalidade com a participação de atleta recordista mundial.

O Governo do Estado de Santa Catarina, através do FUNDESPORTE, programa de incentivo ao esporte do estado, novamente dão mostras da efetiva aplicabilidade dos recursos destinados ao esporte em Santa Catarina.

“A canoagem, modalidade em constante desenvolvimento e crescimento, é somente uma das dezenas de modalidades esportivas beneficiadas com a Lei de Incentivo ao Esporte, em pleno vigor no estado. Graças a esta benesse várias modalidades esportivas têm a oportunidade de projetar seus atletas, o esporte como um todo e de consequência o Estado no cenário nacional e internacional”, ressaltou Chrystian Cezar Borba, supervisor do Comitê de Canoagem Onda da CBCa.

A prefeitura de Barra Velha, através da Fundação Municipal de Esportes também são patrocinadores oficiais do evento.

IRISH OPEN 2011

The IO ran off successfully on Saturday at Easkey left. A small turn out for both kayak and waveski divisions but the surfing was top notch. All riders where enjoying the waves and the relaxed atmosphere. Gerry McGahey ran the show with the help of Richard and Morgan.

Morgan O Sullivan is back on the ski after a lengthy period out of the water following a mountain bike accident. His surfing hasn't suffered though as he made it to the finals. Gerry Mcgahey surfed exceptionally well with powerful top to bottom surfing and winning the HP. Fantastic to see dessie McGlinchey surfing in the waveski division, watch this space.

A brilliant free surf session took place after the comp in even better conditions as the tide filled over the reef.

World Championships of Surf Kayaking 2011
Report 9 by Steve Farthing

Chris Hobson

Chris Hobson is the new kayak up world champion. In another hard fought final Chris overcame a late charge from Dave Speller to claim victory in front of a big crowd. In the women's Tamsin Green claimed her first title with some radical surfing in the tricky 3 to 4 feet conditions.

In the men's long boat, Edu rained supreme although James Hawker almost got the better of him. In the Masters hp, I had another close battle with Dave Johnson from the US, Dave's taking home the trophy this time. In the junior long boat, Andy McClelland picked up his first world title, while in the hp, Jake King was narrowly beaten by the Basque rider.

All the results can be found at the official web site. About to go and have a few beers, thanks Joey for putting on a great show, Australia's turn in 2013.

World Championships of Surf Kayaking 2011
Report 8 by Steve Farthing

It's Wednesday afternoon and the individual finalists have been decided. The team finals are currently in the water battling it out, I'm thinking England might retain their trophy from Portugal but the Basques and US West are pulling out all stops.

In the open short boat it's still looking like a Speller/Hobson 1st and 2nd, but Darren Bason could spoil the party. In the open long boat final, Basque champion Edu looks odds on to win, but Corin King from Northern Ireland says he's not surfing for 2nd.

Corin's younger brother Jake has made both Junior finals along with Andy McClelland, in my opinion the battle is between these two. In the women's, Tamsin Green is looking like the favourite. I've made the masters final again, it's going to be tough with Terry Petch, Dave Johnson and Gary Adcock all surfing well.

It's looking like Thursdays the big day, bring on the waves

Em 2007 venceram no País Basco, em 2009 ficaram em segundo lugar em Portugal e agora, conseguiram de novo a vitória ;)

A Top 10 mundial Roberta Borsari conhecerá, de caiaque e de SUP, na famosa Chicama com suas ondas de 1,5 quilômetros de extensão, no Peru

Depois de surfar a onda mais extensa do mundo em rio, a pororoca, a atleta Roberta Borsari tem agora um novo objetivo na carreira: desvendar a onda esquerda mais longa dos mares, no norte peruano. E o desafio já tem data marcada. No dia 1º de outubro, a brasileira desembarca no Peru para uma surftrip no imenso Pacífico.

"Chicama tem uma onda considerada um clássico do surfe. Ela é tão extensa que, depois de surfá-la, é preciso um bote para te resgatar para conseguir um bom aproveitamento dos treinos", contou a atleta. A onda do local pode chegar a mais de 1,5 quilômetros de extensão e dois metros de altura.

O Peru é mundialmente reconhecido pelas boas ondas e a ideia da brasileira é se aventurar no caiaque (sua especialidade) e também no Stand Up Paddle (SUP), modalidade que tem atraído adeptos por todo o mundo na qual o atleta fica em pé sobre uma prancha remando. "Explorar esse local com os equipamentos de remo será um enorme prazer", ressalta Borsari.

Para explorar os mistérios do país asteca, Roberta ficará no resort Chicama Surf, que oferece alguns mimos aos seus hóspedes como o SPA do local. Assim, quem quiser acompanhar os aventureiros e quer ficar confortavelmente instalado, o hotel oferece excelente infraestrutura turística.

Logo depois da surftrip, a atleta lançará oficialmente o seu novo site, no qual apresentará todas as emoções e o histórico de suas aventuras. E em novembro, Roberta participará do Campeonato Sul-Americano de Kayaksurf em Barra Velha, Santa Catarina.

Em abril, Borsari se tornou a primeira mulher do mundo a surfar de caiaque a Pororoca, no rio Araguari. A Pororoca ocorre em decorrência do encontro das águas do rio com o mar, formando imensas ondas. Top 10 no ranking mundial de kayaksurf, a atleta é a única mulher a correr o circuito nacional. Na canoagem em corredeiras foi a primeira mulher a descer vários rios do sudeste do país. Além disso, em 2009, tornou-se a primeira a surfar de caiaque as águas de Galápagos

World Championships of Surf Kayaking 2011

Another big day of surfing in great conditions.

The men's long boat went in first, Corin King was ripping, even with an interference call he progressed through. All the big names are still in though.

We're down to the top 8 in the men's short. I was a casuality, had my chances but couldn't make them count. Sam Davenport (GBR) an Edu (Basque) also bit the dust. If I had to put money on the winner it would be going on Dave Speller and Chris Hobson, both are showing what's needed to win.

We could finish the individuals tomorrow with semis and finals left to run.

Can't wait for another great day of surfing.

Foi contra dois campeões do mundo que André Pinto saiu do Mundial de Kayaksurf nos EUA: Darren Bason e Urko Otxoa. Num heat com pontuações elevadas, André ficou em terceiro. Parabéns à prestação do atleta português que conseguiu chegar aos quartos de final a competir com a élite do kayaksurf mundial.

It was agains't two world champs that the portuguese Andre Pinto was out of the competition in the quarter-finals of kayaksurf worlds 2011 in USA. Darren Bason, Urko Otxoa passed and Andre was 3rd. Congratulations for all and now, let's wait for the rest of the results!

Bom, aí está a confirmação "oficial". Num heat altamente internacional, o único atleta português no Mundial de Kayaksurf passou para a próxima ronda de baterias (Kayaksurf Men HP). O heat foi ganho pelo argentino Jorge Anchorena e, para muita pena nossa, ficou Stefano Bellotti pelo caminho (resta-lhe o IC). Amanhã, o André não vai ter a vida fácil... Glyn, Xabi ou Liam... são todos TOP! Boa sorte!!!

The unique portuguese athlete in the Worlds Surfkayaking 2011 is André Pinto and he passed for next round! Cool ;) Our very good friend Stefano Bellotti was out in this heat... let's see in the IC Class. Now, André will meet in the same heat names as Glyn, Xabi and Liam... hard work! World Championships of Surf Kayaking 2011
Report 6 by Steve Farthing

The day of days. Let me tell you, it was as as good as surf kayaking gets. Four feet and pumping all day, airs, barrels and everything in between.

The hot action started with the women's heats, Kate and Tamsin went for broke making big moves and both getting washed through the pier. In the men's, Dave Speller and Chris Hobson got massive air time but the rest of the crew weren't far behind. The masters short boat heats also went in with some close results registered.

The junior short boats also went for broke with Jake King and Andy McClelland looking like the goods. Corin King's got todays video coming, just watch it.

Guess what the mozzies are still here, I'm sure they're resistant, now it's war, bring out the super spray.

Got down to the comp site early today and no waves, so it was time to be a tourist. Checked out the Wright brothers memorial and all as I can say is inspirational! Orville and Wilbur Wright must have been the smartest bike mechanics in the world.

Back to the comp site, and the team event was back on at 2 pm. I managed a few waves before the start in a big crowd and not everyone was sharing but it was fun. Watched a few heats of the team event, James Hawker from the UK was my pick of the standouts.

The swells increasing and the open men's will more than likely be on tomorrow, time to get serious.

Until tomorrow, reporting now from "kill devil hills" find out where on google,

Já são quase vinte anos desde que a Mega ganhou as primeiras medalhas no Mundial de Kayaksurf de Thurso em 1991 (Escócia). Agora, Malcolm Pearcey, shaper e dono da Mega, envia para publicação a sua mensagem para mais um Mundial.

O português Paulo Schmidt chefia os juízes no Mundial de Kayaksurf nos EUA

Já são caras bem conhecidas no nosso meio. Na foto de cima, André Delgado (que está neste momento no EuroSurf 2011 na Irlanda), Jackie Dillon (presidente da Ass. Mundial de Waveski) e Paulo Schmidt (habitual Chefe de Juízes no Ocean Spirit Festival juntamente com Nuno "Fera" Gomes). Ora, enquanto André está a ajuizar na Irlanda, Paulo Schmidt está a chefiar os juízes no Mundial de Kayaksurf dos EUA.

Recorde-se que, tanto André como Schmidt, dirigiram o Mundial de Kayaksurf 2009 nas respectivas áreas e, uma vez mais, é com muito gosto que vemos esta equipa de trabalho a ser reconhecida além fronteiras. O André já dirigiu tecnicamente várias provas do CNKW e é o responsável pela elaboração no nosso ranking. Paulo Schmidt acumula também as mesmas experiências no nosso circuito mas, logicamente, na direcção de juízes.

Parabéns para ambos!! O kayaksurf.net deseja-vos um excelente trabalho... como habitualmente o desempenham ;)

Paulo Schmidt is in USA directing the judges team and André Delgado is in Ireland judging in the EuroSurf in Bundoran. They are both regular presences in our kayaksurf & waveski competitions in their working areas. Congratulations for both! Foi um dos heats mais disputados do dia ;) Gonçalo Duarte levou a mehor e optou pelo RPF Master. Deu cartas e obteve um dos melhores scores da prova. It was one of the best heats of last weekend contest in Figueira da Foz, Portugal. Gonçalo Duarte won this class surfing a RPF Master and it was a comproved right option (yellow bigger kayak). The Master is like the RPF Shark but a little longer with the profile of a longboard sit-on-top. The video was sent by Jose Piñeiro, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net and Club Kayaksurf Galiza (Spain). Kayaksurf Symposium / Denmark 2011

Simpósio de Kayaksurf na Dinamarca com a presença de Simon Hammond

O kayaksurf desponta na Dinamarca com várias iniciativas levadas a cabo pelo DKF (Dinamarca Kayak Surf). Casper Gyndelberg, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, envia-nos o report de mais um fim de semana onde as pagaias e os kayaks foram notícia. Tal como habitualmente, o DKF convida sempre um nome sonante da cena mundial para dar formação. Depois de Pete Belnkinsop, o convite caiu este ano no escocês Simon Hammond - autor do "Surf Kayak - Essential Guide". O evebto reuniu mais de 50 atletas oriundos da Dinamarca e Suécia. Last weekend in September opened the Kayaksurf Denmark up for this year's big Surf Symposium in Cold Hawaii. 50 surfkayakers from Denmark and Sweden were troops up with the x world champion Simon Hammond from United Kingdom. Surf Symposium 2011 Denmark

The weekend kicked off Friday evening when people began to check into. In the evening, Simon Hammond held a lecture about the way to become world champion. There sat many, listening and dreaming at the top of the podium at the world championships in kayak surfing. Saturday morning went so loose in the waves in Klitmøller Cold Hawaii where the day was on workshops, and plenty of comfort among the participants.

Hen of the day watching the rescue helicopter dropped by to take aerial images of surfers in the water. Really cool to get some surf pictures from a different angle. Sunday was on the DKF Surf Raid, another kayak surf competition on Danish soil. It was the unofficial Danish championship so surfers from Sweden may well participate. The day went really well and there were many exciting race in today's competition and you could see that the surfers were much better than the competition last year.

First place went to Petter Like Berg, Sweden, second place went to Lars Larsson and third place went to Dane David Tetzschner.

This competition has given the Danes something to train for, it can not be true that the Swedes will come and take almost all podium places in Denmark championships.

Parece que o swell não está a ajudar na costa Este dos EUA... no dia de hoje (são menos cinco horas por lá em relação à nossa hora GMT) houve até protestos junto da organização. Neptuno tem que colaborar! Entretanto, parece que Sam Davenport está em grande forma. Fica mais um report recebido há minutos ;)

It seems that Neptune king is not working in USA East coast. Today, the swell was not so good but the event ran. Sam Davenport is in great shape and let's read one more report from Steve Farthing ;)

Report 4

The event kicked off today with the team event, conditions were barely contestable but everyone made the most off what was on offer. One of the standouts of the day was Sam Davenport from the English team convincingly wining both his heats.

Some of the Rest of the World team which was prevented from entering following a dubious protest decided to explore the the coastline for waves and found a punchy little 2 footer 10 miles south of the comp site.

Looks like we're back to the team event tomorrow here's hoping the surf picks up. Irish stew tonight, I think I'm becoming Irish. Until tomorrow. In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina.

World Championships of Surf Kayaking 2011

Mosquitoes will eat you alive in the carpark if you don't spray, just ask Paddy (potty) King, one scary place. Well the surf was pretty average today. I left it to the young guys to get their quota instead. Official things kicked off, boats were checked and the boys were getting the tape measures out. The team march started at 5 pm and the bloody mozzies came at us again arrrgghhhh. Official speeches were had followed by drinks and dinner at a terrific venue at Jennettes Pier.

Team delegates had their meeting and went on into the evening and was good to air everything out on the first night. The team event will start tomorrow, conditions will be small but improving in the next few days. Can't wait for some surfing action.

World Championships of Surf Kayaking 2011

What's the "Craig"? Well if your Irish that would be "what's up". Irish slang is another language altogether and when your hanging out with the King family you have to learn fast. Well my new buddies finally made it here at 1am after an epic journey from Washington but in true Irish fashion they just laugh it off as another funny adventure.

Caught up with Chris Hobson and Sam Davenport today who'd scored a few good waves south of the comp site. Korin, Jake and myself also got a few small ones in front of the motel. Surf was smaller today but the weekend is still looking good. I heard on the grape vine that the Basque team have arrived and were tearing up the comp site today along with Stefano and Gabriel from Italy. All the action will start on Friday can't wait.

It's the first report that Steve Farthing makes for us about the World Championships of Surf Kayaking that will run in USA East coast (North Carolina). Steve made an excellent coverage for us about the World Waveski Surfing Titles in Ocan Spirit Festival, Portugal. World Championships of Surf Kayaking 2011
Steve Farthing report

Well I've finally made it to Nags Head, Outer Banks, North Carolina for the 2011 World Surf Kayak Championships and low and behold they've got waves. The competition site setup is similar to a break on Australia's Gold Coast called the Spit with a wedging left hand ramp coming off a jetty.............this place is made for aerials.

I managed an hour and a half session today with a couple of pommie kayakers and 20 odd local boardies who were all pretty friendly. The only problem I can see is the paddle out will be tough if it gets big which might happen this weekend. Galen, Tyler and the defending champ Dave Speller are here, could Tyler be thinking of entering on a kayak? Now that would be interesting. A few more of the competitors are turning up tonight including the Kings, my irish adopted family, might be a crowd in the morning.

Carolina's now well and truly on my mind.

Vai decorrer na costa leste nos EUA, Carolina do Norte, mais um Mundial de Kayaksurf. O último foi aqui mesmo em Portugal! - Ocean Spirit 2009. Ficam as últimas sobre o evento!

The WCSK will start next thursday! More than 80 athletes will compete in USA and here you can see the latest news. We wish, once more, all the best for th event!!

If you would like to enter a third individual category, please notify us by 9/21/2011 at 3pm EST

If you are an individual competitor that is qualified to enter a third category, and you would like to compete in a third category, please let us know which additional category you are interested in. We will add competitors into a third individual category on a first-come first-served basis, provided the competitor meets the requirement (age, gender, etc) for the requested class. We only have a limited number of additional spots, so please contact us as soon as possible. Payment of $100.00 for the additional class will be due upon check-in for the event.

Here is a brief outline of the event..

Sept 28 - Practice/exhibition day for competitors (non-required)
Sept 29 - Morning – Competitor check in and Boat safety check - Evening – Competitor Parade and opening banquet
Sept 30-Oct 8 - Competition
Oct 7 - Evening – Award Ceremony and closing banquet
Oct 9 - Non-mandatory exhibition and free surf
Oct 10 - Optional last surf session. Farewell and travel day.

Team Quiksilver Technical Figueira da Foz conquista os dois primeiros lugares SOT

José Morais e Gonçalo Duarte fizeram o pleno na categoria SOT! O Team Quiksilver Technical Figueira da Foz obteve os dois primeiros lugares na categoria sit-on-top. Gonçalo Duarte registou uns impressionantes 14.37 pontos num heat de luxo com grandes ondas. Parabéns aos quatro finalistas que, curiosamente, TODOS são atletas da Figueira e elementos do Figueira Kayak Clube ;)

Quiksilver Technical Team won the two top places in the sot class podium. José Morais and Gonçalo Duarte surf with the SOT surfkayaks RPF Shark and RPF Master. Congratulations for both athletes!!

Segundo dia de prova na Figueira da Foz com um dia cheio de sol, praticamente sem vento e com ondas de luxo para a realização das finais. Os heats começaram a rolar às 10h e, depois de uma pausa de duas horas devido à maré, recomeçaram às 4 da tarde. A sequência seguida durante as semi-finais e finais foi: waveski, SOT, kayaksurf IC e kayaksurf HP. Com um dia bonito como este, a marginal de Buarcos encheu-se de gente curiosa ao ver tantas pagaias na água. Parabéns a todos os participantes e ao Figueira Kayak Clube por mais um sucesso ;)

Ficam em baixo os resultados finais e, em breve, a actualização do ranking nacional de kayaksurf, SOT e waveski. Esta foi a III e última prova do circuito nacional e contou com a presença, entre outros, do vice-presidente da Federação Portuguesa da Canoagem, José Sousa e do vice- presidente da CM da Figueira da Foz, Carlos Monteiro. This event was organized by Figueira Kayak Clube and kayaksurf.net was media partner, as usual. CNKW11 / III e última Prova do Circuito / Report 1º dia

Decorreu esta sábado na Figueira da Foz o primeiro dia de prova da Final do Circuito Nacional de Kayaksurf e Waveski. A praia que reunia melhores condições foi a praia da Cova que se apresentou consistente com ondas praticamente todo o dia. O swell estava pequeno num dia particularmente quente e sem vento. Foram realizados 24 heats repartidos nas classes de kayaksurf HP, kayaksurf SOT e Waveski. 18 atletas em kayaksurf HP, 16 em waveski, 13 em SOT e 7 em kayaksurf IC. Ficam os resultados com os apurados para as meias finais deste domingo. A única categoria que ainda não surfou, foi a de kayaksurf IC (decorrerão este domingo os heats agendados).

Held this saturday at Figueira da Foz, the first day of the kayaksurf & waveski finals of the portuguese circuit. Beautiful day, small swell but with conditions to run 24 heats distributed in kayaksurf HP, SOT and Waveski. This sunday, will run the semi-finals and finals in these categories plus the kayaksurf IC. After this contest, the national ranking will be completed and we all know the winners of this year's circuit!!
