The 1st Ever Annual Australian Surf Kayaking Championships took place at Dicky's beach just north of Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast QLD on Sat May 8th 2010. There were two catagories for the event, one for the novice's and then the Open which would give all standards of surf kayakers a chance to compete.

SURF REPORT

We turned up bright and early on the Saturday morning to be greeted with a nice 2-3ft off shore swell althugh it was a bit chilly it soon became a tipical autumn day or the sunny coast with clear blue skies and nice mellow surf
ideal for the novices .

We ran 2 rounds of heats which gave everyone there a good chance to show what they could do and then took the top 4 novices and top 4 open surfers into semi finals and finals ,with such a new sport the level of surfing was very high and the finals were very tight with all competitors trying there hardest to impress the judges

After a great day surfing the results where as follows:

1st Mark Mustchin (Random Evolution )
2nd Liam (Random Evolution ) Winner of the best new comer getting a brand new Gath helmet of his choice
3rd Danny Griffith (Riot Boogie )
4th Mark Thurgood (Random Renegade )

Open
