WORLD KAYAKSURF 09 REPORT / RESULTS FROM TUESDAY AND PROGRAM FOR TOMORROW
MUNDIAL DE KAYAKSURF / RESULTADOS de TERÇA FEIRA E PROGRAMA PARA AMANHÃ

O dia de hoje foi repleto de heats com várias classes em disputa. A competição teve início às 9.30 repartida entre o site principal e o site mais a sul da praia de Santa Rita. Na competição "Individual", foram disputados vários heats das classes Masculinas e Femininas HP. Às cinco da tarde, após um intervalo de uma hora e meia para as finais do Campeonato Nacional de Longboard, o palco principal de Santa Rita retomou a competição para o Mundial de Kayaksurf. Mais a sul, os heats decorreram durante todo o dia sem qualquer pausa.
Grande dia de sol e boas ondas, fizeram desta terça feira uma das etapas mais preeenchidas do Mundial d Kayaksurf. Logo pela manhã, assistimos a fortíssimos heats na classe Masculina HP que juntaram na mesma bateria nomes como Darren Bason e Dave Speller, Jonny Bingham e Phillip Watson, Edu Etxeberria e Chris Hobson e até Chris Harvey com Sam Davenport. Em suma, grandes surfadas ao mais alto nível com alguns dos actuais e anteriores campeões do mundo da modalidade. O score mais alto pertenceu a Chris Harvey com uns impressionantes 16.67 (praticamente o dobro do segundo classificado do heat).
Da parte da tarde, foi tempo de disputar várias categorias por Equipas. Tivemos na água - repartidas pelas classes HP e IC - baterias com Masters, Juniores, Masculinos e Femininos. Em relação ao Team Portugal, destaque para Bruno Melo (vencedor do seu heat em Master HP) e Rui Calado (segundo classificado no seu heat em Masters IC). O junior português Miguel Carvalho ficou na 3ª posição no seu heat e, como tal, não passará para a próxima ronda.

- 07.30h: Briefing com os atletas
- 08.00h: Início da competição (Homens HP) que irá desenrolar-se ao longo de todo o dia enquanto as condições assim o perimitirem.

A pontuação é obtida pela soma dos resultados obtidos nos heats por parte de todos os elementos da equipa. Cada categoria não representada de uma equipa equipa, é penalizada com mais 5 pontos adicionados ao total obtido. Esta penalização é particularmente forte em equipa como a Galiza, Japão e Portugal porque não apresentam atletas inscritos em várias categorias.

We had this tuesday a full day of heats with several classes in competition. It all started at 09.30 AM between two sites (the main one and the south one). The morning started in the main site with the "Individuals" Women and Men. At five o'clock of the afternoon, we had a break in the main site about one hour and a half to finishing the Long Board Surfing Competition. Meanwhile, on the south site, eveything went as planned.
Great day of sun and good waves, made this tuesday one of the fullest days of the competition. In the morning we had incredible heat on Men HP where was possible to watch in the same heat names like Darren Bason and Dave Speller, Jonny Bingham and Phillip Watson, Edu Etxeberria and Chris Hobson and even Chris Harvey with Sam Davenport. Summarizing, we had great surf sessions and the highest score of the day belonged to Chris Harvey with 16.67 in his heat (just doubled the score of the second position!).
In the afternoon, we had several classes in the Team Event Competition - divided by HP and IC classes, we had in the water Juniors, Men, Women and Masters.
