Decorreu no passado fim de semana na costa Este dos EUA mais uma edição do campeonato norte-americano de kayaksurf que incluiu a "Battle 4 Hateras" - uma prova onde três atletas formam uma equipa que disputa três classes distintas (HP, IC e Waveski) na busca do melhor resultado. A prova teve ainda a particularidade de decorrer no mesmo local onde será o Mundial de Kayaksurf 2011 (Outer Banks). A selecção basca esteve presente e ganhou quase tudo... como habitualmente ;) Fica o report e alguns dos resultados. Wave Ski - 1st Steve Riordan, 2nd Gordon Rock, 3rd Mark Pastic, 4th Ted Morris - Thanks to Island Wave Ski for giving three $200 gift certificates for our winners.


Womens Short Boat - 1st Garazi Iturralde, 2nd Ainhoa Tolosa, 3rd (US National Champion) Kris Whitmore


Joey Hall and Julen Arriz / The basque was the only Junior paddler in attendance at the event, though he competed in the Men's events and advanced to Semi-Finals. Expect some very competitive surfing from this 17-year-old in the near future! He's already very talented and he surfs with Edu and Urko regularly - a recipe for great surfing.


The Basque Team: An incredible bunch of athletes, nice folks and great sports.

Urko Otxoa vence nos EUA / Campeonato Norte Americano de Kayaksurf, Costa Este

O evento começou ontem e acabará no próximo domingo. Faz parte do campeonato norte-americano de kayaksurf e decorre na praia onde irá realizar-se o Mundial de Kayaksurf 2011 - Costa Este dos EUA. Joey Hall e Spencer Cooke - NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net - já enviaram as primeiras notícias. Decorreu ontem o Troféu "Iron Wave" e foi ganho pelo basco Urko Otxoa (actual campeão do Mundo IC). Relembramos que a selecção basca está em peso nesta prova (como já noticiámos há dias).

The event started yesterday and will run until next sunday. Yesterday, the "Iron Wave" Trophy was won by the basque Urko Otxoa. We recall that the Basque Country Team is there with full representation captained by Edu Etxeberria (like we published a few days ago). This spot is where will run next year the World Kayaksurf Championship. Below, the link for ESKA website where you can follow the news. ANOTHER MEGA FREE SURFKAYAK

MAIS UM MEGA À BORLA PARA UM FELIZARDO



Os nomes dos últimos surfkayaks da MEGA têm sido sujeitos a uma auscultação geral na net. O MERLIN, que inspirou o wave da MEGA Merlinski, foi "batizado" por este senhor: Robert Taylor. Norte americano, costa este, e aí esté ele com um MEGA MERLIN novinho em folha. Robert foi levantar o seu Merlin ao representante da MEGA na costa Este dos EUA.

Robert Taylor picked up his free composite Mega Surf Kayak on Savannah Canoe and Kayak. Robert won the striking red and black carbon Kevlar Merlin a while back when he entered Mega's 'name the boat' competition. Savannah Canoe and Kayak was glad to help with the shipping of the boat across the pond.

CAMPEONATO DE KAYAKSURF DE FOLLY BEACH / EUA, ESTE / REPORT

Realizou-se no passado dia 18 de Outubro e reuniu os melhores kayaksurfistas da costa este dos EUA. Ao contrário da costa do Pacífico, a costa Atlântica norte-americana é extremamente instável devido às intempéries. É usual o adiamento de algumas provas devido a tornados, ciclones e outras coisas agradáveis...

Mas passemos ao que Nigel nos enviou:

The waves were small but clean. And despite the rain, the event attracted quite a few spactators.The winner of the draw for Mega Maverick was Deb Mitchum from Charleston.There is a picture of me handing over the kayak on behalf of Mega Surf Kayaks.The event was sponsored by Mega Kayaks and Kokatat

Interference Magazine and Interference: A Kayak Surf Film Out Soon
Interferencesurf.com launched


DeadMan Productions LLC announces that the first issue of Interference Magazine and Interference: A Kayak Surf Film are to be released soon. Both projects have been under production for two years and will be released under the umbrella of Interference Surf, a kayak surf media brand.

Interference: A Kayak Surf Film has been in production since Fall of 2006 and features footage from Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and the East Coast of the United States, as well as the 2007 World Surf Kayaking Championships. The film is in post-production and will be released in February of 2009. It was shot in HD format and will be released on DVD. Interference will be distributed in the United States by Effort Inc and in the UK and Europe by Nathan Eades. Trailers and previews are available at http://www.interferencesurf.com/

Interference Magazine is a kayak surfing publication that has been in planning stage since Summer of 2006. The first issue (Issue 1 Volume 1) of Interference Magazine will be released in October of 2008. It will feature articles, interviews, and photographs from various contributors from around the world. Interference Magazine will be available first in high resolution PDF format from www.interferencesurf.com .
