Ranking Nacional de Kayaksurf e Waveski 2010



Com a prova de Faro à porta - é já no próximo fim de semana - é tempo de consultar o ranking nacional de kayaksurf e waveski deste ano. Três classes em jogo - kayaksurf HP, IC e waveski - e quatro provas no calendário (S.Julião, Ocean Spirit, Figueira da Foz e Faro). A prova de Faro irá confirmar os vencedores do circuito deste ano e, claro, as entrevistas serão publicadas depois, como habitualmente. Em cima, o ranking de kayaksurf HP. The portuguese kayaksurf & waveski circuit has four contests this year - S.Julião, Ocean Spirit Festival, Figueira da Foz and Faro. Next weekend, will run the finals in Faro where will be known the winners of this year. After that, full interviews on kayaksurf.net as usual. Xaver Valser, o homem forte da subgraviti.com, já conhece o nosso país há muitos anos e ainda há bem pouco tempo andou por cá para mais uma sessão de filmagens - objectivo: Projecto P10. Mais um grande filme de waveski. Nomes bem conhecidos da cena mundial da modalidade passearam a sua classe pelas nossas ondas graças ao trabalho deste homem e aos excelentes anfitriões que por cá tiveram - Watertech Team.

Pois bem, para já, só anunciamos que o kayaksurf.net está associado ao projecto e, em breve, teremos mais novidades. Muito bom. O kayaksurf.net também está associado ao excelente filme de kayaksurf "Interference", às produções Breizhriders TV e agora, com o Mundial de Waveski 2011 à porta - Ocean Spirit Festival - mais uma colaboração exclusiva. Well, his name is unavoidable when we talk about waveski videos. Xaver Valser, subgraviti.com creator, has eight incredible videos since he started his adventures running the world and shooting the best waves he saw and surfed. All started 15 years ago and now, Xaver - born in Sout Africa but living in Switzerland - still maintains his passion. He was in Portugal a few weeks ago filming with some of the best world waveski riders for a new project (one more) called P10.

kayaksurf.net already collaborated with Joey Hall and Spencer Cooke in the great kayaksurf video "Interference", with Matt and Fred Jonneaux from Breizhriders TV and now, we have the enourmous pleasure and honor, of also supporting this great P10 Project. It will be an awesome waveski video with incredible waves and riders. We already published some of those photos that Pete Cop - NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net - gently sent us and soon, more news about Xaver ;)



"Seventeen days in Portugal. I took a group of young waveski surfers to Portugal to shoot a commercial for the 2011 World Championship. This was just one side of the mission. Together with the 2011 Worlds and the Santa Cruz Ocean Spirit Festival I will also have the world premier for my new waveski film. For me it’s going to be the biggest premier up to date and it was important that I filmed some spectacular action to go with it. And that’s precisely what happened.

Out of the 17 days of filming we had just 2 days that we could not film because of rain and strong wind. The rest of the time we were blessed with excellent surfing conditions all day long. I gathered a total of just over 300 GB of rushes. The material came from 5 different cameras: the surfing telescopic camera, lifestyle camera and 3 water cameras. All performed excellent, without any problem in a very hostile environment. The best filming experience I had on the trip was sitting on the back of a jetski while speeding next to the white water as the riders surf the wave in full glory, at times less than a meter away from me. It was my first time that I have experienced this angle seeing the riders so close and being right next to the action. I captured some incredible images in absolute perfect wave conditions. It is guaranteed to put the movie in a league of its own.

Figueira da Foz / Portugal / Surf City

A importância das modalidades de onda para a Cidade do Surf / Fórum dia 22 de Outubro



Numa iniciativa da Academia de Surf da Figueira da Foz (Surfing Figueira), vai decorrer no próximo dia 22 de Outubro no Centro de Artes e Espectáculos da cidade um Fórum subordinado ao surf e à importância das modalidades congéneres. Paulo Simões, kayaksurfista da velha guarda do kayaksurf.net, apresentará uma comunicação sobre a metodologia de treino para surf. Para o mesmo evento, estão convidados João Portugal (IPL) e Bruno Melo em representação da Associação Ocean Spirit. Fica o convite de mais uma iniciativa com o apoio kayaksurf.net ;)

The training surf methodology and the importance of this big turistic industry, is in discussion on this workshop. It will run in Figueira da Foz (Portugal Central West Coast), with some guests that are involved in the portuguese surf scene. kayaksurf.net supports this event and Paulo Simões, one of the guests, is a well known surfkayaker. Good idea!

SURFKAYAK Demo Weekend / Oct.23-24th / NSW Australia

Fim de semana cheio de kayaksurf e waveski na Austrália



Mais uma iniciativa de Darren Bason para a promoção do kayaksurf na longínqua Austrália. De tempos a tempos, Darren, Steve Farthing e Terry Petch - Random Kayaks - promovem fins de semana onde o objectivo é somente colocar mais gente na água. Levam o material necessário e, gratuitamente, todos eles ajudam às primeiras pagaiadas nas ondas. Boa onda com o apoio kayaksurf.net ;)

One more initiative coming from Ramdom Kayaks Team - Darren Bason, Steve Farthing and Terry Petch. Haakgat – Best Surf Kayaking Session of the Season? / South Africa

Grande sessão de kayaksurf com Adrian Tregoning - NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net - e Craig Rivett. De acordo com o relato de Adrian, já há uns tempos andavam de olho na costa a noroeste da Cidade do Cabo. Pois bem, com as condições favoráveis, o swell entra de feição e aí estão eles a aproveitar. Em baixo, o link para mais fotos.

According to Adrian: "I’d been checking out Haakgat for quite a while. When it gets big and there is SE wind blowing a couple of windsurfers and kiters hit that spot and ride the left that runs just next to a patch of reef. The launch has some shore break but it’s manageable if you time it right. Once out it isn’t too hard to get to the backline, on a given day. Many times I had stood there and checked it out. No wind, but closing out right across and no ways of getting to the backline – damn. On another day, it just wouldn’t be happening, or a NW wind would totally ruin it, or too much SE wind. Or the tide would be wrong and the evil kelp would be sticking out, waiting to cane the unsuspecting kayaker. Until July this year.

Craig Rivett and I headed out scored one of my most enjoyable surfs this season. The waves were fairly slow breaking, one could get long rides, it was easy to get out again and they had a nice size. Farrah Higgs captured the action beautifully and if you look at the photos below I’m sure you’ll agree – thanks!"

Decorreu no passado fim de semana na costa Este dos EUA mais uma edição do campeonato norte-americano de kayaksurf que incluiu a "Battle 4 Hateras" - uma prova onde três atletas formam uma equipa que disputa três classes distintas (HP, IC e Waveski) na busca do melhor resultado. A prova teve ainda a particularidade de decorrer no mesmo local onde será o Mundial de Kayaksurf 2011 (Outer Banks). A selecção basca esteve presente e ganhou quase tudo... como habitualmente ;) Fica o report e alguns dos resultados. Joey Hall and Julen Arriz / The basque was the only Junior paddler in attendance at the event, though he competed in the Men's events and advanced to Semi-Finals. Expect some very competitive surfing from this 17-year-old in the near future! He's already very talented and he surfs with Edu and Urko regularly - a recipe for great surfing.


The Basque Team: An incredible bunch of athletes, nice folks and great sports.

South American Wave Canoeing Championship 2010

Campeonato Sul-americano de Canoagem Onda 2010

Está tudo a postos para o evento pioneiro que é igualmente válido pela II Etapa do Circuito Brasileiro de Canoagem Onda 2010. Tudo decorrerá na cidade de Balneário Barra do Sul – SC, na Praia do Bispo durante os dias 22, 23 e 24 de Outubro. No dia 22, decorrerá a Abertura Oficial do evento no Restaurante Hibisco e dias 23 e 24, tempo para as competições. Patrocinador Oficial: Governo do Estado de Santa Catarina, FUNDESPORTE, e Secretaria de Estado do Turismo, Cultura e Esporte.

Estiveram praticamente duas semanas por Portugal e surfaram em vários spots. A chefiar a equipa, estava Xaver Valser, o homem forte da subgravity.com com o projecto P10 - filme promocional do Mundial de Waveski a decorrer no Festival Ocean Spirit 2011. Pete Copp, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, acompanhou parte da surf trip e tirou sequências de sonho. Já publicámos uma com o hawaiano Tyler Lausten e agora, mais uma onda magnífica com Mathieu Babarit. Sem palavras. Quando juntamos um surfista de excelência com um fotógrafo de luxo, dá nisto!

What can we say... a few weeks ago, we published an incredible sequence with Tyler Lausten and now, Pete Copp - NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net - presents us one more epic wave captured by his camera. This time, Mathieu Babarit doing the usual: surfing like very few in the world. Pete joined a great waveski riders team that were in Portugal for two weeks. Objectiv: filming with Xaver Valser - subgravity.com - for the DVD P10 that soon will be released. These photos were somewhere in the Central West Coast fo Portugal. Enjoy it ;)
