CIRCUITO NACIONAL DE KAYAKSURF 2008 / ÚLTIMA PROVA / RESULTADOS DE PENICHE




Após uma manhã inóspita - com vento, chuva e quase sem ondas - o dia foi melhorando no decorrer dos heats desta última prova do CNKS. A praia do Baleal acolheu 13 participantes na classe kayaksurf; 17 na classe SOT e 8 em freestyle.

BRUNO MELO CONSAGRADO VENCEDOR DO CNKS 2008 EM AMBAS AS CLASSES!

O estreante no CNKS Bruno Melo não deixou a coisa por menos e... ganhou tudo o que havia para ganhar! Conseguiu a proeza de ficar em primeiro lugar nas quatro provas do Circuito Nacional em ambas as classes. Elemento da Watertech Team e o mentor do Santa Cruz Ocean Spirit, Bruno é o verdadeiro "waterman".

FINAL DO CAMPEONATO BRITÂNICO DE KAYAKSURF na TAÇA DO MUNDO

A Taça do Mundo que se está a realizar na Ilha D'Oleron em França, serviu também para reunir os atletas britânicos que açi disputaram a final do seu circuito nacionals. John Watson fez o favor de nos enviar estas fotos e todos os resultados.

Good waves and sunshine for the Home Internationals

Monday and Tuesday brought sun and waves at Vert Bois, Ile D’Oleron, and allowed most of the Home Internationals heats to be completed with good conditions. Jersey and England were delighted to welcome a Guernsey Team – particularly since they invited everyone round for a barbecue mid-week! A Rest-of-the-World team gave surfers from US East, Brazil and France the opportunity to surf competitive heats before the World Cup.

This was a first competition for Team Guernsey and they played a significant role in results. Lorraine and Ruth were learning well in the ladies, Adam Harvey and David Dupont had respectable results in Juniors, and joined Richard Agnelli, Gary Allen and big-brother Harvey in the men’s event. The experience will help in future events. It may be no surprise that Guernsey’s single win came from Chris Harvey – but who expected it would be in the long boat class?

Gear

Team Jersey were well-organised as always, particularly with balloons and decorations on Richard Jones’ long boat for his birthday. Honours were shared in the Ladies, between Ailsa McDougall (Jersey) and Tamsin Green and Robyn Pearcey (England). Similarly, a long-running rivalry in the Masters of the long boat, left Tim Rowe (Jersey) and Gary Adcock (England) taking one victory each over the two rounds.

Beach

It was England who started strongly, with close and well-deserved wins in the first five heats. Then results were more of a mix between the four teams. Jack Horwell took his last Junior win, before he was given a good send-off before travelling to New Zealand for eight months. Philip Watson remained undefeated across three different classes – mens’ short, mens’ long and junior long, over the two rounds. Many England surfers mixed firsts and seconds across different classes.

High tide near the end of Round Two brought a shore dump to be avoided. You can never guarantee the swell though, and, although lovely small, clean surf at another beach brought playtime each day on the pushing tide, adequate waves never returned to the competition beach. People managed to pass the time though, with French food and wine, the Pirate Bar and some thoroughly enjoyable sessions in small surf around the island.

England finished Champions, Jersey second and Guernsey third. The next Home Internationals will be in 2010 – can anyone suggest a venue?

World Cup Finals Day 2 Update by Rusty Sage

Today saw another day of beautiful weather and wind. The swell has dropped a bit to 2-4 feet but still holding good form, with the offshore breeze.

The competition heated up as the elimination rounds take place. Ailsa McDougall (JER) showed that she is a force to be reckoned with by posted the highest score for women today. The Semi-Finals are now set for the women, one more round to determine who will be in the Championship round.



As for the Junior’s, a hard fought battle between Philip Watson (ENG) and David Speller (JER) in the Junior Semi-Final ended with a last minute high scoring wave from Speller to clinch a spot in the Finals. Sam Davenport (ENG) and David Speller will meet in the Junior Final to determine the World Cup Champion.



The Men’s division made it through the middle of Round three before the conditions made it too difficult for competition. However, there were some impressive heats of intense competition throughout the day, Pete Blenkinsop (ENG) and James Hawker (ENG) worked their way from Round two, to solidify a spot in the Quarterfinals, along with Junior Finalist Sam Davenport (ENG).



With one day left of competition the Worlds best Kayak Surfers will compete in head-to-head single elimination format to determine the next World Champion.

It appears that the remaining swell is dying out and there maybe a day or two of rest for the competitors as we wait on another swell to arrive.

REPORT - ROBERTA BORSARI



Depois da estreia, as duas competições: Copa do Mundo e prova inglesa por equipes seguiram em frente. Foram disputados mais rounds do feminino, junior e masculino. O mar baixou, o que dificultou a realização da prova, pois todos querem que a Copa seja disputada com boas ondas. Hoje tivemos um dia de pausa, sem baterias.

Estas "janelas" como costumamos chamar estes dias, são programados pela organização para que a competição seja realizada com as melhores condições de onda durante a semana escolhida para o evento. Os competidores se dispersaram partindo para conhecer outros picos da Ile Doleron e do continente.

GATH

Neste dia livre eu parti com a (sempre divertida) equipe Basca para o continente para conhecer mais uma praia, desta vez uma parte da costa mais selvagem. A previsão e da chegada de swell no final de semana e estamos todo no aguardo para realizar as semis e finais!

Pormenor da Vila d'Oleron

Diferente dos Mundiais, onde até a última bateria a disputar acontece entre 4 canoistas, na Copa, partir das semi-finais, as baterias sao disputadas entre 2 competidores e apenas um deles segue para a fase seguinte, no caso, a grande final.

Entre as mulheres, para a disputa das semi-finais temos, em primeiro lugar Tamsin Green, (atleta da Inglaterra), que disputara com a quarta colocada Kristina Ferrer do time Basco e a Ailson (segunda colocada), residente da Ilha de Jersey e veterana das provas internacionais de kayaksurf disputara comigo (terceira colocada) a vaga da final.

Pablo Bozzolo é o grande promotor do kayaksurf no Chile colabora connosco fazendo parte da nossa NEWS TEAM. Enviou-nos estas fotos tiradas no passado dia 7 de Setembro nas ondas da praia de Maitencillo - a Norte da Vinã del Mar onde reside (ver mapa em baixo).

Pablo tem contado com a colaboração do argentino Martín Lopez da Jammin' Surfkayak. Para além do Brasil, mais dois países da América do Sul com kayaksurf a crescer, seja na Costa Atlântica ou Pacífica. Desta vez, fomos até ao Chile!

Aí estão os primeiros resultados da Taça do Mundo que está a decorrer em França. Destacam-se, para já, as prestações de Dave Speller nos Juniores, Chris Harvey nos Homens e Roberta Borsari, nas Mulheres.

Rusty Sage REPORT:

Simply said, an amazing day of competition. Clean 3-6 foot waves with an offshore breeze and sunshine all day added to the enjoyment and spectacles of kayak surfing. Ibon and Xabier (age 19) from the Basque Country showed the world that the future is now by placing 1st in both of their respective heats of men and to Roberta Borsari, the Female Brazilian surfer, setting the bar for the women, earning the highest point total. Today saw round 1 of Men and Women complete with rounds 2 and beyond planning on going tomorrow.

The junior’s have completed both of their rounds with the semi finals set. A new comer to the field Adam Harvey (age 15), younger brother to Chris “Air” Harvey, making the Semi’s going against top seeded Sam Davenport out of England. Sam and current World Champion, David Speller, have been putting on a show by demonstrating their overall skills in the surf and making it to their next respective round in the Sr. division as well.

Weather and swell permitting, tomorrow will see the completion of the Junior event, crowning the next Jr. World Champion. There will also be the completion of the Men’s rounds 2 through the Quarter-Finals.

Está a competir, a organizar e a colaborar uma vez mais com a nossa NEWS TEAM. Falamos de Rusty Sage, actual campeão do mundo de kayaksurf HP, que nos enviou ontem à noite as folhas dos heats que estão neste momento na água. O evento tem corrido bem, com ondas de 1m, 1,5mt e o ambiente está ao rubro.

Na sexta feira à noite, será realizada uma reunião acerca do Mundial de Kayaksurf 2009 a realizar no Santa Cruz Ocean Spirit em Portugal.

W TEAM CONFIRMED ON PORTUGUESE KAYAKSURF FINALS

WATERTECH TEAM CONFIRMA PRESENÇA EM PENICHE NA FINAL DO CNKS 08

A Watertech Team vai estar na máxima força em Peniche este fim de semana na grande final do Circuito Nacional de Kayaksurf. A ida a França para participar na Final da Taça do Mundo ficou comprometida devido a problemas "logísticos" relacionados com a extrema dificuldade de TODOS os elementos da W Team conseguirem uma semana de férias disponível nesta altura do ano...

A parte positiva da história é que teremos mais participantes para Peniche e a festa final do circuito será mais completa com alguns dos melhores kayaksurfistas nacionais.
