São as novidades RPF já no início de 2009. Rui Fonseca aposta num novo modelo seguindo o êxito do já conhecido SHARK. Tirou-lhe volume, comprimento (tem 2.23 cm) e peso! Em suma... um SHARK "evolution". Mas vamos ao texto da RPF NEWS:

Está quase pronto para testes o protótipo do novo "bebé" da RPF. Desenhado para ser o natural sucessor do Shark, este novo surfkayak, mantém como características a facilidade de aprendizagem e a versatilidade do seu antecessor. Rui Fonseca aposta na rapidez e agressividade herdadas do Flash, só possíveis recorrendo à utilização de novos materiais e técnicas de construção, o que permitirá produzir um surfkayak significativamente mais leve e com uma rigidez extraordinária. Ficam para já duas fotos das primeiras fases de construção do Maori e fica a promessa que as próximas já vão ter como plano de fundo o mar.....

Maori - It's almost done the new surfkayak by RPF!! It's almost ready for tests the new RPF Sit-On-Top surfkayak. Following the same philosophy that it's older brother, the RPF "Shark", this new model has new and improved features, allowing a more faster and aggressive surf for all the experienced paddlers. To achieve this, this new model will use state of the art materials, in order to be lighter and stronger than it's predecessor.

Bom... de cada vez que Chris, Jonny ou Dessie nos dizem que têm um novo vídeo, é certo que teremos grandes ondas. E aí estão elas de novo! O Dessie foi para a água ontem mesmo (quarta feira) e, à noite, publicou o vídeo que Harry filmou. Estava a nevar por lá e, segundo o Dessie, foram grandes ondas e muuuuuuuito frio. Pudera!

A near perfect surf forecast of a 5 metre swell and 15 second period. Scored some of my best waves in years. Shame about the weather and light. Thanks to Harry for filming. He set the camera up in a new spot and the results are a better view back across the wave. - Dessie McGlinchey

WORLDS 2009 / SANTA CRUZ, PORTUGAL / NEWS FROM WSKA

ÚLTIMAS SOBRE O MUNDIAL DE KAYAKSURF 2009 / INSCRIÇÕES ATÉ 28 DE FEVEREIRO

Pete Blenkinsop, actual presidente da Associação Mundial de Kayaksurf (WSKA), enviou-nos mais novidades sobre o Mundial de Kayaksurf que decorrerá em Santa Cruz de 23 de Julho a 2 de Agosto. Para já, atentem nas datas para inscrições e número (mínimo) exigido para a formação de equipas.

2009 Contest - Santa Cruz, Portugal, July 23rd to August 2nd.

We have set 28th Feb 2009 as the deadline for initial team registration for all teams that want to enter. Please let us know your team representative name and details and send us a deposit of €200 before this date. We will post the way to pay the deposit very soon.

The 23rd June 2009 will be the final date for bids for next worlds and submission of proposals for any changes in how the competition works.

Bom, e se por cá os surfkayaks e waveskis andam mais pela garagem, na Inglaterra a época começa já este mês! James Hawker, o homem da Future Kayaks (já entrevistado por nós), enviou-nos o programa do evento. Águas frias no SW da Inglaterra, algumas "ondinhas" à mistura mas ele lá estarão! Aqui fica o programa oficial do primeiro evento de 2009 do kayaksurf.net como Media Partner.

Bigbury Comp 24th or 25th January (UK)

It's the usual routine if you'd like to enter the event:

1. Email James on james@futurekayaks.com or text or phone on 01752 813919 or 07746 035115 to let him know your name and which classes you'd like to enter. Knowing numbers as much as possible beforehand helps the organiser plan the day.
2. Phone James on the Thursday evening before (22nd Jan), to check conditions and when and where the event will be.
3. Pray for amazing clean surf on a day suitable for sunbathing and sandcastles on the beach.
4. Turn up, pay your dosh, surf, judge (alongside someone else if you're still learning), have a chat and a great day out.

Classes that are going to run:

Juniors HP&IC Ladies HP&IC
Masters (probably combined HP&IC depending on numbers)
Open HP Open IC

There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Juniors HP, Ladies HP, Masters, Open HP and IC.

Entries will be taken on the day, £10 for one class and £15 for two (Open HP, IC and Masters). Juniors and Ladies will be £10 for HP, IC and Open, if they want to enter all three.

The event will probably be at Bigbury, but if the conditions are unsuitable I will move it to wherever looks best in Devon/Cornwall. Confirm this on the Thursday evening phone in (01752 813919 or 07746 035115). The event could run on either the Saturday or the Sunday, but it will run in one day.

Em 2008, foi campeão regional no “Circuito ABFM” e, no circuito profissional de longboard europeu (ETL de seis etapas), classificou-se em 13º lugar sendo o primeiro português no competitivo circuito. No actual Campeonato Nacional de Longboard – só com duas das nove etapas realizadas – vai na sétima posição.

A breve introdução serve somente para confirmar que, Pedro Casqueira, sabe muito sobre o meio onde resolveu agora investir. Inaugurado simbolicamente na passagem de ano para 2009, aí está a última aventura de Pedro – Figueira Surfcamp (Serra da Boa Viagem, Buarcos, Figueira da Foz).
