A secção kayaksurf.net deste mês na FreeSurf destaca o Mundial de Kayaksurf. A FreeSurf continua a ser a única revista gratuita dedicada aos desportos de ondas e é mensalmente distribuída nas principais lojas de surf, associações académicas e algumas mega-stores de material desportivo. The kayaksurf.net section on this month edition of the portuguese magazine FreeSurf, is about the kayaksurf worlds championships. This mag, is distributed in all country by the main surf stores and by all the academic associations. Besides all this, it's the first surf magazine that involves our sport avery months within it's pages thanks to the partnership with kayaksurf.net. Below, this month's edition.

A novíssima RANDOM kayaks de Darren Bason (sediada na Austrália), foi uma das grandes sensações do Mundial de Kayaksurf 2009. Steve Farthing venceu com um Evolution da Random a classe Masters HP e Darren deu espectáculo todo o campeoanato. No mercado europeu, a marca irá ser representada pela Future Kayaks de James Hawker. Future Kayaks will be manufacturing the Random Evolution in the UK and Europe. Demo kayaks will be available in the UK within the next few weeks, I can be contacted at james@futurekayaks.com for anyone that is interested. Information on the boat is available at http://www.surfkayaking.com.au/

The kayak has been designed by Darren Bason in conjunction with a waveski manufacturer in Australia. It was introduced to people at the Worlds this year with some impressive surfing by Darren and Steve Farthing. The boat is another step forward in surf kayak design, with a shape that has been refined through years of waveski development, now enhanced with Darren’s kayaking expertise. I don’t need to put too much description here, the photos speak for themselves- this boat flies!

MATTHIEU JONNEAUX / A NOVA GERAÇÃO DO WAVESKI FRANCÊS



É mais uma entrevista da série "NOVA GERAÇÃO". Mathieu tem 16 anos de idade e vive em Esquibien (Bretanha francesa). Começou a remar aos 10 anos de idade e, aos 12, iniciou-se no em waveski. No seu (ainda) curto palmarés, contam já várias vitórias: Britanny Champion em infantis - menos de 15 anos de idade - nos anos 2006, 07 e 08. Ainda nesta categoria, alcançou o segundo lugar no Campeonato Francês em 2007. Ainda ao nível nacional, alcançou o segundo lugar (Infantis) e foi o 19º no ranking francês de kayaksurf.

One more interview on the "New Generation" series. Like all the others, our full attention goes for the new generation of kayaksurfers and wave raiders that are coming to our sport. Here is one more name: Mathieu Jonneaux. Check below the profile of this great rider.

O Mathieu surfa habitualmente com o seu KS na baía de Trépassés e sonha com várias metas: chegar ao pódio no Campeonato Francês de Waveski na categoria 15-17 anos, depois o pódio Europeu na categoria "New Age" e por fim, figurar no top ten da modalidade em França. Quanto a surfkayaks, diz-nos que já experimentou mas que não troca pelas sensações radicais do seu wave.

WAVESKI SURFING WORLD TITLES 2009

MUNDIAL DE WAVESKI NA AUSTRÁLIA / KAYAKSURF.NET



São três colaborações preciosas: Steve e Ming Farthing juntamente com Penny Bedford. Steve esteve entre nós no Mundial de Kayaksurf e sagrou-se Campeão Mundial na Classe Master HP e é agora elemento da nossa NEWS TEAM. Ming, sua mulher, é uma excelente fotógrafa que nos deixou centenas de imagens para posteriores publicações. Penny Bedford é a fotógrafa oficial do Mundial de Waveski e elemento da nossa NEWS TEAM. Todos estarão presentes no Mundial de Waveski que decorrerá de 5 a 12 de Setembro em Emerald Beach, Coffs Harbour na Austrália.

They will run from 5 till 12th of September in Emerald Beach, Coffs Harbour, Australia. Steve and Ming Farthing plus Penny Bedford will send us all the stuff about the event. There's a portuguese name in the entries: Francisco Saraiva. Francisco is the main promotor of the waveski in Portugal and his activities (FS Waveski School and competitive events) confirms his commitment with the sport.

Para além das informações que teremos do evento, o especial destaque vai para o único e primeiro português inscrito neste evento: Francisco Saraiva. São dele as grandes iniciativas nacionais para a promoção do waveski: a criação de uma escola de formação - http://www.waveski.pt/ - e a organização de vários eventos competitivos. Depois de várias internacionalizações no currículo (Irlanda, País Basco, França) agora, Austrália. O Francisco já nos tinha confidenciado em Ribeira D'Ilhas a vontade de ir e a confirmação aí está nas inscrições com o número 57 no Mundial australiano:

AS NOVAS MÁQUINAS APRESENTADAS NO MUNDIAL DE KAYAKSURF 2009 EM PORTUGAL

Ao todo, foram 9 surfkayaks apreentandos no Mundial de Portugal. Claro que alguns deles já constavam em alguns mercados - exemplo dos designs de Spencer Cooke - mas, a sua apresentação na Europa, foi feita no nosso Mundial. Algumas marcas nacionais também aproveitaram o evento para apresentarem as suas novidades: a RPF surgiu com o Rapanui e o Diamond e a Watertech, com o ONA. Aqui ficam as primeiras imagens e, lá mais para a frente, algumas entrevistas com os construtores.

There were 9 new surfkayaks presented in Portugal Worlds- a record I suppose. Of course that some were already known by some markets - example: the new desings from Spencer Cooke. The portuguese brands also take the opportunity to introduce their new designs: RPF with Rapanui and Diamond; Watertch with the ONA. Let's take a look of them and, forward, we'll have some interviews about these releases.

Durante o último Mundial, Nathan Eades e Naomi James promoveram ao máximo o evento que decorrerá no País de Gales em Outubro deste ano. Neste monento, o casal anda algures pelo Pacífico e, em breve, teremos mais um report de fazer inveja - como é hábito nas viagens de Nathan.
