Paulo Lopes é da casa! O surfista da Figueira da Foz foi terceiro no II Campeonato Internacional de Kayaksurf de Peniche 2004, esteve connosco em Mundaka 2006, nesse ano vence a Prova de Peniche e, em 2007, venceu a classe freestyle na Praia Grande e sacou o segundo lugar em kayaksurf. Para além de tudo isto, esteve na génese do primeiro team do kayaksurf nacional - Mar Bravo - graças ao pioneirismo e grande empenho de Jorge Lopes (Olá Jorge!!) - o homem que trouxe a Mega para Portugal. Para fechar esta introdução, não podemos esquecer que o Paulo esteve igualmente connosco na criação e organização da Kayaksurf Session. Este ano, o Paulo não pôde estar connosco mas, e citando as palavras do próprio após ter visto o vídeo do João Vaz - "Para quem não esteve presente no dia, fica-se com mais pena ainda depois de ver o vídeo". Para quem conhece o Paulo... é a boa onda de sempre! Parabéns amigo! Agora, toca a comprar o Diário de Notícias ou o Jornal de Notícias do fim de semana!

Paulo Lopes is one of the portuguese kayaksurf pioneers. He belonged to the very first portuguese surfkayking team - MAR BRAVO - thanks to the great work of Jorge Lopes and Mega Surfkayaks. This weekend, one of the most read newspapers in Portugal (and his magazine), made an interesting article about radical sports. Paulo was interviewed about our sport, of course! He was also with us in the organization of the first Kayaksurf Sessions and now, above all, he still his a great friend of kayaksurf.net and a really passionate surfkayaker. Congratulations for the exposure Paulo!

É uma das marcas indissociáveis da Session. Apoiou-nos desde a 1ª edição - logo com um surfkayak - e este ano surpreendeu-nos com um Flash todo em carbono com apenas... 7 quilos!! This year RPF kayaks offered for the Kayaksurf Session one of their new RPF Flash. Full carbon, reinforced with PVC and using the best epoxy resin, RPF managed to achieve a very strong and stiff surfkayak with only 7Kg...with a quick but forgiving hull shape, the RPF Flash is one of the most versatile surfkayaks in the market. Rui Fonseca, shaper and owner of RPF, says that "You can surf big waves, and with a quick change in fin set, you can rip all the small and medium waves easily". BIGGEST WAVE OF EUROPE IS IN PORTUGAL !!

A MAIOR onda da Europa em extensão é em... Buarcos! - Figueira da Foz, Portugal.

O "Guia de Surf Centro de Portugal" foi apresentado na Figueira da Foz no passado dia 16 e publicita a maior onda da Europa. De acordo com a publicação, esta onda é localizada no mar de Buarcos e possui 800 metros de extensão! Em baixo, o texto divulgado pela LUSA entretanto publicado no semanário SOL. Fica o registo!

According to the "Portugal Surf Center Guide", we have in Buarcos (Figueira da Foz), the biggest wave (in extension) of all Europe! 800 metres long to surf! We already know that spot very well ;) Tnat's, for example, where we made our Kayaksurf Session this year (near by). Sometimes, besides the extension, the height is also scary ;)

Guia de surf
Maior onda da Europa é em Portugal

«O guia revela uma realidade do centro de Portugal, conhecida dos desportista mas não dos turistas. Possuímos, em Buarcos, a maior onda de Portugal e da Europa, com cerca de 800 metros de comprimento», disse hoje, Pedro Machado, presidente da entidade regional de turismo Centro de Portugal.

O guia, com 35 páginas, foi elaborado com a colaboração de praticantes de surf e vai estar disponível em papel em postos de turismo e unidades hoteleiras mas também na Internet, na página do Turismo Centro de Portugal.

Destinado a adeptos de desportos como o surf, bodyboard, kitesurf e kayaksurf, inclui informações que vão desde os equipamentos e escolas daquelas modalidades até às características das ondas (como a direcção e nível de experiência necessário para surfar) e fundos marinhos.

«Trata-se de promover os desportos de ondas e um turismo ligado à água salgada e praias. É uma nova abordagem, uma diferenciação em relação aos produtos turísticos tradicionais», disse Pedro Machado.

CIRCUITO FRANCÊS DE WAVESKI / Prova de Lacanau / Surf Report by Fred Jonneaux



O fim de semana passado foi pródigo em provas e eventos de kayaksurf e waveski. Para além da nossa Session, realizaram-se - entre outras - mais duas provas: Bakio, País Basco e Lacanau, França. Ambos os eventos contaram com o nosso apoio e os reports já cá chegaram ;) Depois do País Basco, vamos até Lacanau com Fred Jonneaux, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net.

Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th the club CKLG was organizing a national waveski competition in Lacanau (near Bordeaux). It was the las national competition before the France Waveski Championship which will happen at the end of October 2010 in Anglet (French Basque Country). 12-13 June 2010 Lacanau

Lacanau Beach

About 45 riders coming from every parts of France came in Lacanau. On Saturday, we had 4 feet waves, with some light on-shore wind in the morning, getting stronger on the afternoon, so the conditions were quite difficult on the afternoon. Very good organization, and a nice dinner in a restaurant close to the lake gave time to the riders to have good moments together on the evening. It ended quite early, because competitors wanted to be on good form for the sunday finals. On Sunday morning, nice and warm sunny weather, with small and rare 2 feet glassy waves at the beginning of the day, getting a bit bigger around midday, reaching 3 or 4 feet.



First there were semi-final for the youngest (14 to 16 years old), then their Final : Nathan Le Bars (Plouhinec), Maxime Gaborit (Europe Champion from Sables d'Olonne), Ludovic Sterlin (Lacanau) and Louis Darnaud (Sables d'Olonne). Great battle between Max Gaborit and Nathan Le Bars, both are small waves specialists ! The scores were so close between those two riders that the judges had to count all of their waves scores to make the difference. Nathan Le Bars (Plouhinec) wins the Competition on Young category !

Then the Ladies Final with Caroline Angibaud, Olivia Floch, Coralie Jousset and Elise Gaborit. Caroline gets the 1st place, before Coralie Jousset 2nd (Sables d'olonne), Olivia Floch 3rd (Sables d'olonne) and Elise Gaborit 4th (Sables d'Olonne).

The Final for the Juniors, between Britons (Mathieu Jonneaux and Kevin Le Bars - Plouhinec) and the two

local riders Pablo Arrouays and Pierre Ortega. Bad conditions for Mathieu Jonneaux who is a tall and heavy rider, but he trained a lot all the year long to be able to perform on small conditions. He got a good first wave, and exploited it very well, getting a good score, and managed to win the Junior competition on Pablo Arrouays and Pierre Ortega home spot ! (Mathieu Jonneaux 1st, Pierre Ortega 2nd, Pablo Arrouays 3rd, Kevin Le Bars 4th).

The competition ended with the Open Final,with great riders as Mathieu Babarit riding on his new Rotomod Promodel, Renan Leloutre (France Senior Champion 2009), Guillaume Justine (Vice-world Champion 2009) and Sylvain Longuet, away from competition since two years, but coming back with his best surf. The battle during this final was hard, each one trying to get the best powerful wave. Mathieu Babarit was just amazing on his first wave, making the show with his new board. He wins the Open competition before Sylvain Longuet (2nd), Renan Leloutre (3rd) and Guillaume Justine (4th).

Decorreu no mesmo fim de semana da SESSION e os nossos amigos bascos divertiram-se igualmente à grande! Boas ondas, grande participação e os campeões mundiais Edu Etxeberria e Ainhoa Tolosa a vencerem em várias categorias.
