Universities training dayby Mickey Barry
This last weekend the Captain of University College Cork Canoe Club, Seamus Boyle, asked some members of Paddlesurf.ie to come and give an introduction and some basic skills lessons to the students in the club. The club were all keen to learn new skills aftewr the purchase of 2 new surfboats for themselves.
Marty McCann travelled down from the North and local surfers, Brendan Barry, Muireann Lynch and Myself were on hand to give some tips and show everyone a new aspect to paddlesports. Marty gave on the beach lessons and watched everyones progression aand gave tips as the surfed while the rest of us jumped in the water giving pointers and generally hooting and hollering as everyone caught some nice clean waves on the day.
The day ended with a nice freesurf and a pint of Stout in a nearby pub. It was a great day, small, super clean surf with a lovely offshore wind, great weather and good times :) Here's hoping we get more at Irish events now from this and that the UCC Kayak Club get more surfkayaks and waveski's.
