AS SURPRESAS DA W EM MUNDAKA / NOVOS MODELOS E A CONFIRMAÇÃO DE EDU ETXEBERRIA NA W-TEAM

Aí está a confirmação. Edu Etxeberria, actual vencedor da Taça do Mundo de Kayaksurf 2008 e um dos melhores kayaksurfistas na cena mundial da modalidade, está na W-Team. Juntamente com Bruno Melo, desenvolveu o novo surfkayak que estreou em Mundaka (teremos lá mais para a frente o merecido destaque) e, logo na estreia pela nova equipa, limpou as duas classes: HP e IC. Para além do mais, Bruno Melo, conquistou o pódio na classe Masters. Parabéns a todos!! Vamos ao report de Rui Calado.

MUNDAKA CHAMPIONSHIP by RUI CALADO / WATERTECH TEAM

The BIG news of the weekend was that Edu Etxeberria is the newest element of our W-Team... And is there a better place to reveal it then Mundaka? What about 2 first places for a start? On HP he was the winner riding the prototype designed by Edu and our shaper Bruno Melo. On IC took the 666 to the highest level, showing that the W machines are flying in all directions... To confirm that thay are with full power, Bruno Melo on our newest model, the Bandit - was the winner on the Masters HP. So many news on just one week end :)

A notícia mais bombástica do fim de semana foi, sem dúvida, o Edu Etxeberria a entrar para um lugar destacado da W-Team. E que melhor local para o revelar do que a prova de Mundaka?

E a estreia foi em grande, conquistando o 1º lugar em HP com o protótipo do kayak desenhado pelo nosso shaper Bruno Melo e ele próprio. Na categoria IC, Edu levou o Watertech 666 também ao primeiro lugar mostrando que as máquinas W estão a dar cartas em todas as frentes. E isso também se viu com o Bruno Melo, que também esteve em grande conquistando o primeiro lugar nos Masters com o mais recente kayak Watertech que vai ser revelado entre nós na Kayaksurf Session, o Bandit. Tantas novidades num só fim de semana...

E vamos à prova. O fim de semana esteve também em grande, principalmente no sábado com a famosa onda de Mundaka a mostrar o que vale e permitir muito boas ondas de vários atletas. No domingo nem tanto, mas ainda foi suficiente para terminar as mangas e chegar às classificações finais.

Conforme o prometido, aqui fica o report completo com todas as classificações do VII Campeonato de Mundaka. Nota positiva para a participação nacional - que será alvo de uma outra reportagem - em que Bruno Melo (Watertech Team) alcançou o 1º Lugar na classe HP Masters. De resto, foi o domínio de Edu Etxeberria. Edu Etxeberria dominates HP and IC classes and a very positive note for the "new generation" where great junior surfkayakers impressed everybody for their great surf and attitude. O Campeão Nacional em título não deixou o seus créditos por mãos alheias e confirmou a sua mestria nas ondas. SÁBADO, 25 DE ABRIL / CAMPEONATO DE KAYAKSURF DE MUNDAKA / REPORT de DESSIE McGLINCHEY

Mais um report em cima do acontecimento. O dia de hoje, sábado, saldou-se por um bom swell com Mundaka a funcionar em grande. Algumas andavam pelos 2mt e as fotos não deixam dúvidas. Amanhã de manhã saberemos quem passou às finais! Para já, o report de Dessie McGlinchey:

SATURDAY, APRIL 25th / MUNDAKA KAYAKSURF CHAMPIONSHIP

As the tide started dropping the wave started shaping up. From early this morning everyone that had travelled to Mundaka knew that today was going to be classic, that will be talked about for a long time. Big hits were the order of the day. Some fantastic surfing was witnessed by the spectators high on the cliffs. Big respect to all the juniors from Basque country and Northern ireland who were probably catching the biggest waves of their lives. The contest ran for around 5 hours and the mens open class is down to semi finals the mens IC is at the final and the junior open is also at final. Here is some of the 300 pics taken by Gerry Mc Gahey. There were a lot of other photographers here today so im sure more excellent pictures will appear in the next few days.
