Mundial de Kayaksurf 2011 / Selecção Japonesa



Eram somente três mas, tal como em Portugal 2009, cheios de simpatia e boa onda. Shota Onishi, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, envia-nos a confirmação de que nenhum elemento do Japão conseguiu chegar a uma final, no entanto, Masaki Matsumoto alcançou as semi-finais em Masters HP. Parabéns pela participação!

They were a "small" team but, like in Portugal, full of simpathy and good vibe. Shota Onishi, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, congrats Masaki Matsumoto that reached the semi-finals of Master's Short class! Congratulations Japan for one more World Championship!!

O irlandês Len Kelleher, campeão do mundo 2007 em kayaksurf IC, está a trabalhar há vários anos no Japão e, volta e meia, envia-nos notícias ;) Descobriu esta semana nos seus arquivos estes dois vídeos que agora nos envia. Kayaksurf em Ginoza e Sunabe. Mais em baixo, a descrição destes spots por Len.

The irish Len Kelleher, IC kayaksurf world champ 2007, is now living and working in Japan. Of course that he continues to surf!! This time, Len sent us two videos with some kayaksurf in Ginoza and Sunabe. Below, Len describes us these two spots. Enjoy it!

SUNABE


This video is taken at Sunabe seawall. This place is always crowded so I dont go there anymore. But last year I went very often as I wasn't familiar with other less crowded surf spots. This was an evening session after work. It was a long session, maybe 4hours surfing and I remember it well because I was very badly sunburnt the next day.

The first video:
Ginoza Reef. Ginoza reef is about 2km off the coast and is dangerously shallow. Coral reef exposes in some places while im surfing out there. Nobody surfs out there. I think im the first person to have surfed this reef.

Shota Onishi, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, sent us his report from a surf trip he made till Miyazaki (SE) - on of the best surf spots in Japan. He took the trip to visit Water Field Kayaks factory and test the brand new Hannya. Check the photos, videos e full report from Toshi. Cool!

Miyazaki surf trip

From the day of earthquake and tsunami,Japanese people are sad and in shock. I believe that to have fun is most important to get over it. We went to Miyazaki to have fun. As I have reported before,Miyazaki is one of the best place to surf. We stayed in Water Field Kayaks Miyazaki for a week.And enjoyed to surf.

Water Field Kayaks bring new boat,the Hannya. We tested it and filmed footages by high speed camera. It can film 240 to 1000 frames per a second.It is great to record and check fast moving objects.

Shota Onishi e Toshi Nagaoke são elementos da nossa NEWS TEAM Japão. Confrontados com as trágicas notícias que nos chegam do oriente, contactámos os dois kayakurfistas. Já recebemos os seus mails e felizmente estão bem. Da mesma forma, os irmãos irlandeses Kelleher - que estão emigrados no Japão e dos quais já entrevistámos Lenny - também se encontram felizmente bem. A realidade do arquipélago japonês continua instável e numa temerosa situação de perigo nuclear. Deste lado do mundo, toda a força e apoio da comunidade da canoagem em onda para todo o povo japonês.

Shota Onishi and Toshi Nagaoke belong to our NEWS TEAM Japan. As soon as we saw the tragic news coming from Japan, we got in touch with them. We already received their mails. Fortunatelly, they are ok. In te same way, we sent an email to Lenny Kelleher - the irish surfkayaker that lives in Japan with his brothers. He already answered our mail and they are all also ok. The reality of the Japanese islands remains unstable and in a fearful state of nuclear danger. From this side of the world, we sent all the strength and support of the paddle surf community for the entire Japanese people.

Ocean Freestyle Championship / Chiba 2010 / Japan / Surf Report

Campeonato de Freestyle nas Ondas / Chiba, Japão / Surf Report

Shota Onishi, NEWS TEAM kayaksurf.net, envia-nos todos os dados sobre mais uma edição do Campeonato de freestyle nas ondas. Esta prova conta com kayaksurf, waveski, playboats e sit-on-tops. O Pacífico não esteve com grandes ondas mas o ambiente de todo o evento fez valer a pena a surfada ;) Mais em baixo, o slide-show com todas as fotos.

We had a great event last Sunday. National top athletes of free-style kayak,surf kayak and waveski gather to compete. In this year,the shape of the sandbar of the beach is not good.It doesn't shape waves well. Waves were small and weak.But paddlers did well and had fun.

KAYAKSURF no Japão com Len Kelleher



Len Kelleher é o irlandês que, surpreendentemente, ganhou o Mundial de Kayaksurf 2007 em IC no País Basco. Está agora a trabalhar no Japão e, claro, o kayaksurf continua a ser a sua paixão. Volta e meia envia-nos uns vídeos do outro lado do mundo. Aqui fica mais um com a crónica assinada pelo próprio.

Len Kelleher, World IC Kayaksurc Champion 2007 (Basque Coutry Worlds), is working in Japan. Once in a while, he sends us great videos from that part of the world. Here stays one more more with full report from Lenny. Enjoy it ;)

Surf spots are Sunabe Seawall and Kin outer reef

All the video footage is from three different surf session. Last week there were two Typhoons that went straight over okinawa. The winds were very strong while the Typhoon was passing over this small island, but the waves before and after the storm were fantastic. It was a perfect time to really test out my new Random Evolution that I got from Darren Bason earlier this year. I never thought I would like a HP boat as much. I am an IC man myself, but since I have been riding the Evo I have been converted into a HP man. The surf has died down now over this side of the world. Snorkeling and triathlon training will be taking place until the next storm/swell hits Okinawa.

LEN KELLEHER treina nova manobra na costa japonesa - "A Reversal"

Len Kelleher, o campeão mundial classe IC 2007, está a trabalhar algures no Japão mas, claro, o irlandês levou o seu Mega para os confins do Oriente. Pelo meio das surfadas, anda a investir numa "nova" manobra - o "Reversal". Confessa-nos que no vídeo... não dá muito para ser notar mas que em breve irá enviar-nos novidades ;) Força nisso Len!

Len Kelleher, World Champion IC 2007, is working in Japan but, of course, the irish took his Mega for the East side. He usually surfs in Okinawa and now, is training a new move: The Reversal. He confess us that "I think I need a bit more work and more camera angles to really give this move justice. My video does not give the move justice, but it give people an idea of what im thinking about when I go surfing." That's cool for us Len! We're already waiting for the next video ;)

Conhecemos Len Kelleher em 2007 no Mundial de Kayaksurf no País Basco quando o irlandês - com um surfkayak emprestado - ganha a classe IC numa surpreendente vitória sobre outros nomes bem mais consolidados nestas andanças. No ano passado, estivemos de novo com o craque no Mundial realizado no Ocean Spirit. Len, está agora a trabalhar no Japão e é por lá que surfa. Conta-nos que, de cada vez que vai à água com o seu Mega, mais parece um "alien" tal é a curiosidade despertada ;) Ficam as fotos enviadas pelo simpático irlandês com a particularidade de destacarem o segredo do seu surf agressivo e radical: os autocolantes kayaksurf.net ;)

We met Len in Basque Country Worlds in 2007 when he won the IC Class and became the World Champ of this class agaisn't strong names of our sport. Las year, he was also with us - even surfed together! - in Santa Cruz Ocean Spirit for the Worlds 2009. Now, Lenny is working in Japan and usually surfs in Sunabe Wall with his Mega. In is own words: "The name of the reef break is Sunabe Seawall. Sunabe is a surfing village in Okinawa. Lots and lots of surfers enjoy surfing at Sunabe, but I think I am the only one to surf this break in a Kayak. People are so amazed when they see a Kayak in the lineup...." - we imagine that Len!! In these photos we can see one of the secrets of this great irish surfkayaker.... the kayaksurf.net stickers!!! They give extra power ;) Thanks Lenny!!
